Still better than the duopoly. Zali Steggal and Monique Ryan have introduced several ethical private member's bills addressing the shortcomings of the duop, including transparency and truth. Pocock is my hero and I want to see more of his calibre swelling the crossbench.

Unquestionably so. Labor's win was a 'hell, no' overreaction to Dutton's RWNJ tactics. I think the swing towards a stronger crossbench with Climate 200-backed independents will come, but it might take several elections until #auspol learns its lessons.

If we solve the first problem, and have power-sharing governments, we are less likely to hand power over to tech robber-barons in the first place. When their money puts their buddies in power we have to cut this off at the knees. Power shared among minor parties and Independents would help. #auspol
Tony Cartledge (@decentral21.bsky.social) reply parent
That's a good start. it would benefit us locally, but they would find other ways to exploit other markets, I dare say. If we want to limit their power there would need to be a coordinated shift amongst many nations.

The cure on a political level in #auspol is the growth of an ethical crossbench and a minority partisan government. The cure on an economic level is less clear and I don't know how you take billions away from billionaires. The cure on a personal level is to decentralise your Self, and serve others.
Tony Cartledge (@decentral21.bsky.social)
There seems to be a common cause for almost all of society's ills, and that is the concentration of power into the hands of the few. It results in corrupt politics, the threat of tech oligarchs and selfish actions. The cure is decentralisation on a political, commercial and personal level. #auspol
