This is a much better review than I'd expected from Top Gear. Autocar were similarly positive, and Auto Express gifted it four stars. They all say the same thing - the flaws are easy to overlook at £24,995.

The story beats were all very predictable, it piled unnecessary complication on top of unnecessary complication to pad the run time, and there was no real sense of 'The Entity' as the major threat the script kept making it out to be.

The models are still pretty rough, but they've got the sense to leave them in the background as digital set dressing.
The first season starship designs were particularly bad, and the CG models were rotten. I know Pixomondo were a relatively last minute replacement for CBS Digital, but their work was very poor, even considering the time constraints. Some of it looked worse than Babylon 5. 😬
Discovery's season 1 and 2 ship designs were garbage, and I always hated the uniforms, but I did like the 2250s props.

The worse the writing gets the more I enjoy it. You can see it on the cast's faces that they KNOW they're performing absolute horseshit, but their contracts don't end for another season or two. 🤭
