I don't know who to believe from reading the article. My guess is the GQP is generally not trustworthy. If taxes go up to support public transit, so be it. Austerity measures rarely work. The city and satellite counties are the economic backbone of the Commonwealth. Hurting that is plain foolish.
Disc Thrower (@discthrowr.bsky.social) reply parent
How dare the professionals who have actually dealt with disaster situations speak out. This is so tiring to hear one injustice after another. Rural America is going to own this and regret what they voted for.
Disc Thrower (@discthrowr.bsky.social) reply parent
Mostly correct. Pittsburgh and the Lehigh Valley also help the state, but the economy of Southeastern PA is the bulk of it. Killing the economy here is just plain stupid.

I was in Philly on my bike the other day and stopped for lunch. My waiter told me he now must Uber getting off work after 9 from center city to Fishtown. The fossil fuel industry loves this stuff. That is evil. Bad in so many ways.

This is one quarter of the entire population. I have told you people, Israel is full of good and decent people that don't support the war crimes of Netanyahu. Stop listening to people on the left that are just as hate filled as the people on the right.
Disc Thrower (@discthrowr.bsky.social) reply parent
They do not care. Educated voters are a threat to the GOP that has no real policies to help people. All they have is culture wars to fight and the followers eat it up.
Disc Thrower (@discthrowr.bsky.social) reply parent
The swamp and deep state. Those in the GOP are either ignorant, insecure, stupid or a combination. Education can fix this however they want to further defund that too except for their private schools. We are so screwed.
Disc Thrower (@discthrowr.bsky.social) reply parent
This is the epitome of stupid. 60% of the state GDP is SE PA. Let's keep those taxes here and let rural PA stand on its own. See how fast they change their tune.
Disc Thrower (@discthrowr.bsky.social) reply parent
I would pitch Walker over Nola or Suarez right now. He's earned it.
Disc Thrower (@discthrowr.bsky.social) reply parent
As much as I hate this, yes hate it, the GOP can no longer be trusted to govern fairly, honestly and responsibly. Dems should promise when retaking the house to force through an anti-gerrymandering law the courts can't strike down. With a level playing field they are toast.
Disc Thrower (@discthrowr.bsky.social) reply parent
Oh, but if you pay people you can't invest in automation and AI you can't increase profits. You also cannot compete with foreign companies who will. Look, I want a living minimum wage, but I think at this point a wealth tax to fund free healthcare, affordable housing and minimal income are needed.

But I'm certain he's ok with oil subsidies. These people are trash.
Disc Thrower (@discthrowr.bsky.social) reply parent

The reason Trump has slapped tariffs on the entire world is not to protect American workers. What Trump cares about is being able to get concessions out of other countries and corporations that seek exemptions. It's all about his ability to hand out punishments and rewards.

Musk is dangerous is an accurate statement. Musk shouldn't be trusted is an accurate statement. Using the word propensity to describe any EV related to thermal runaway is incorrect unless the EV is sitting in a flood containing salt water. That's my point. EV fires are rare.
Disc Thrower (@discthrowr.bsky.social) reply parent
The GOP is allowing all of this. Never forget.
Disc Thrower (@discthrowr.bsky.social) reply parent
All EVs are because it does happen, and is extremely rare. Early Bolts had defective batteries and early Model S had insufficient shielding under the battery so road debris could damage it. Both problems are fixed. Guess data isn't relevant when you don't want it.

Philly and its burbs are 60% of the state's GDP. Crippling the area's economy hurts the state for political points. How are they going to fund their schools, medical services and maintain roads with tax revenue from SE PA when it falters? SE PA receives back 19%. Let that sink in.
