I’m a Californian, and not a big Newsom fan, but he IS creating a permission structure for other Ds to be more aggressive in their messaging and tactics. I’d like to see Pritzker get out there more, and I think he will.

Totally agree, but voters need to see fighters. Each candidate needs to tailor their campaign for their districts, but once in office, kitchen table issues AND preserving democracy can co-exist on the agenda.

I see Newsom and Pritzker working as complements to each other. Newsom is shining a light on the ridiculous pass the press has given trump, hopefully inviting greater scrutiny, and Pritzker is the one taking action. Ds need a full court press.

D.C. has more residents than two U.S. states. They pay more per capita in federal taxes than any other state. But they don’t get a serious seat at the table to decide how they’re governed. D.C. statehood now.
The first step is grabbing attention. Newsom is showing the way. I think more Ds will adopt some form of this strategy backed up with more concrete proposals. Mamdani has proven that authenticity, empathy, and clear communication work. Be aggressive. Be real. That’s the lesson.
i have really loved Mamdani’s social media strategy because it punches in the face when it needs to but it’s also very organic. it’s clear it driven by him and not staffers. its very centered on a coherent politics and place. it feels very authentic, which means it is sustainable.
