The most annoying part of being a researcher: Investing hours in adapting research proposals (for paying your own salary) to specific requirements and layouts of funders over and over again, so that a REVIEWER can kill it because he/she doesn‘t like it (w/o getting reviewer reports after rejection)🤦🏻♂️

It seems that in the vastness of your intelligence the ability to read and the difference between tidal energy and wave energy got lost. You just proved yourself that a troll is what you are. Sad. I was hoping for top quality trolling here.

📰🌍🚀 Wave power shows strong potential as a renewable source, especially for coastal and island regions. Complementary to solar PV worldwide, it could support hybrid systems. Islands may gain the most from combining wave power with solar PV.

Dominik Keiner (@dominikkeiner.bsky.social) reply parent
Logisch.
Dominik Keiner (@dominikkeiner.bsky.social) reply parent
Dominik Keiner (@dominikkeiner.bsky.social) reply parent
Denke eher zweiteres.
Dominik Keiner (@dominikkeiner.bsky.social) reply parent

📰🌍🚀 The role of solar PV in Indonesia will extend; it will also include the production of e-fuels for hard-to-abate segments as alternative to land-intensive biofuel production. Various scenarios show the cost-competitiveness of solar PV in Indonesia’s renewable energy transition.

Cost-competitiveness for green hydrogen using intermittent renewable energy sources remains a significant challenge. Researchers have shown that considerable cost reductions can be achieved by optimizing plant control and design based on specific hydrogen demand targets and local weather conditions.

📰🌍🚀 Hard-to-abate segments in the energy transition require electricity-based e-methanol in large quantities. The transport costs could be a key factor in determining the best locations for future green e-methanol projects. @christianonre.bsky.social www.pv-magazine.com/2025/02/11/t...

Cost-wise not really. That is why DESERTEC did not really work out. Shipping is extremely cheap. Huge transm. lines are also not socially accepted, see e.g. the problems in GER with North-South lines. Cheap e-fuels from the sunbelt will come by ship. Plus no geographic ties: doi.org/10.1016/j.rs...

In most cases yes. We will see troubles in highly populated areas, namely small islands and especially South Asia. Europe is on the edge, but much can be traded within Europe. It‘s not yet fully clear for post-2050 developments.

It is. Shipping charged batteries won‘t happrn 😉
Dominik Keiner (@dominikkeiner.bsky.social) reply parent
These fuels are already developed today. If society aims for cost-optimised solutuons e-fuel trading will play a major role to supply remote islands, and countries with high population density without enough area.
Dominik Keiner (@dominikkeiner.bsky.social) reply parent
Not really. There will be the need for trading e-fuels, e-methanol, e-ammonia. Plus growing weslth in developing countries fire consumption. Though ships can run on clean e-methanol.

What is causing the atmospheric CO2 concentration to growth (light blue bars)? It is all the fossil CO2 emissions (brown) we dump into the atmosphere (a little LUC too), with the land (green) & ocean (dark blue) sinks struggling to keep up. More figures: robbieandrew.github.io/GCB2024/
