I genuinely don't understand the liberals who think all "debate" is equal. As if arguing over whether McDonalds or Wendy's has better fries holds the same moral weight and relevance as arguing over whether or not the president should be allowed to accept bribes from foreign governments.
All that's left to "debate" at this point is culture and social issues. So any mention of the economic side can only harm capitalist interests in the public sphere.
As long as everyone in power remains a neoliberal, the capitalists don't care if they have a D or an R next to their name at this point. Capitalism has finally successfully homogenized American economic politics that, long term, it makes little difference which party is actually in power.
I mean, we all wish they were true, but this was completely expected and nobody actually thinks anyone involved will be punished for it.
I think a problem with "scandals" is that they're only truly scandals if anyone is surprised by what happened or have some expectations that what happened will be addressed/corrected/punished in some way. Neither of those two things are true here.
