Yes, very much agree. Whenever I engage these people I'm not doing it on the hope of changing*their* mind. I'm doing it to publicly demonstrate that their ideas are irrational and metaphysical.

Infographic on the chemistry of dahlia flower colours. The colours of dahlias are a result of anthocyanin-, chalcone- and aurone-derived pigments. Colourless sflavones also interact with and stabilise anthocyanin pigments. Chalcones and aurones lead to yellow and orange dahlias, while anthocyanins play a part in orange, pink, red and black dahlias. Blue dahlias aren't seen because dahlias lack an enzyme for making delphinidin, the anthocyanin which leads to blue flowers.

Hang on a sec. "Teenagers" covers ages 13 to 19. The lower age is not the same as the upper. Are you suggesting that 13 yr olds can consent to irreversible medical treatment? If they can consent to that aren't you the one here making inappropriate arguments about ages of consent?

Their reasons are entirely coherent. Like much of their policy platform, it's reactionary conservatism: "The woke majority are against it, so we're for it."

I'm sorry about your plumbing. That's a pretty shitty deal.

You can't because one doesn't exist. Sex is absolutely binary. It is not a spectrum. There is no such thing as a "sperg" or a "spegg".

I could respond with "my three biology degrees and a career in biochemistry research", but that would be a type of logical fallacy called an argument from authority. Instead I'll just invite you to name the third gamete.

That article has been comprehensively debunked several times over the years. It is disinformation. Jerry Coyne's probably done the most complete deconstruction of it. whyevolutionistrue.com/2022/08/29/o...

But you are male or female. Regardless of how many surgeries or drugs you take. And that's okay. Why would it not be? We're all human. Pretending you're something you're not is for children and the mentally unwell.

No, I'm not a state representative. You still can't change sex.

Intersex is an obsolete misnomer. I think you mean a disorder of sexual development. Sex is binary and in mammals, such as humans, immutable. Most people with DSDs remain unequivocally male or female. It is unethical to perform unnecessary surgery on infants born with DSDs.

Ok, I'm not going to detect chlorpyrifos in untargeted lipidomics data as the concentrations measured are in the parts-per-trillion range. Here's the method paper for the data in JAMA. They extracted 4g of plasma or serum to reach that sensitivity. www.sciencedirect.com/science/arti...

That paper used GC-MS so I looked up an LC-MS method paper. I wanted to know if I could see it in any of my data. Can someone explain how these guys are detecting it at m/z 352 when the MIM is 349? pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC... Does it gain a saturation?

One of the more annoying things about living on Aotearoa New Zealand is the time zone difference for webinars scheduled on European or American time. This one looks fascinating , but it's at 3am. #metabolomics us06web.zoom.us/webinar/regi...
