Markets don’t care. They’re investing in an AI future where you don’t need skilled workers anymore, and the S&P 500 essentially prints money for billionaire CEO’s while unemployment goes up. But it’ll take longer than 4 years for the bubble to break.
Also, I think this shows that her campaign is engineered to get out votes and not showcase her obvious ability and desire to push back on Trump. She could be putting out videos like this every day instead of going to football games. I’m glad she did this interview though. Campaign to win.

What I need to know is, what hoops do I need to jump through to make sure my family gets the healthcare I want them to have? I need like a set of instructions from an actual science based organization.
Sounds sketchy, and I’m unclear of the goal. It seems like they want to bend their content to the viewpoint of the money group, which sounds nefarious. I want these people making content unfettered. The money comes off as a bribe.
We’ll see. That would be the largest statewide win for a Democrat I’m aware of, but governor elections draw higher turnout than special elections for statehouses, so I think it’s unlikely we’ll see that, but let’s leave it all out there.
I’ve noticed this on social media where men will for whatever reason use profile pictures of young women, often celebrity pictures. This one looks like Emma Watson I think? Kind of a huge red flag in and of itself.
I think we need to embrace policies that Drastically raise costs for people who own multiple homes. Every subsequent home should be subjected to increasing taxation and renters should receive tax breaks offsetting the revenue.
If you are aware that you are giving in to easily, couldn’t you just choose to not give in?
…not that I want any of this, but it’s a thing they can do. Imagine putting say Elise Stefanik’s district under NY national guard patrol. Checking everyone with a rifle for registration or asking random grocery shoppers at food lion for ID.
Newsome is starting to show how to fight back. There is nothing stopping him, or the governor of New York say from deploying national guard troops in red areas of their states. It would do nothing to diminish their political power.
If the country is bailing them out, then the country should reap the rewards. I’m not exactly sure why we’re doing it, I guess to on-shore chip making, but this is not the company I would want to invest in. Been hugely mismanaged for decades.
I’m genuinely curious why he’s doing this. I don’t see this helping him win, and he’s probably smart enough to know that. Maybe it’s a Hail Mary, but man… so desperate.

I think it’s also interesting that the President of JMU, who has a similar profile to President Ryan recently stepped down to go to American University.
It’s not even just that. The Board of Visitors is trying to eliminate any nod to cultural identity, unless it’s tied to some antebellum group. There is a fringe student group aligned with them that feeds them rage bait any time a word like “gay” or “Latino” shows up anywhere in their lives.
The majority of the Board of Visitors are now Younkin appointed, but I have no idea how Trumpy they are across the board. They all went through Dem State Senate approval, but no idea how closely they were paying attention. It wouldn’t shock me if the majority they fell in line and did it.

Well, it turns out the only right they really cared about was the right to own slaves.
I guess this makes sense since I believe it started in Texas. I’m not sure how the civil war is handled in Texas schools, but in Virginia we were explicitly taught the war was primarily about states rights, and slavery was a tangential issue. I do remember covering the emancipation proclamation.

Like most places though, even EU countries are hard to move to. You need a job offer first and then you usually need to pay nearly a thousand euros to apply for a visa. Low skill workers have little chance. It’s not necessarily easy. It helps to have family there. Might still be worth it for some.

Can’t argue that. I just think everything is so in flux that if you told me in 4 years both countries were in opposite situations I wouldn’t be shocked. I think of you had a chance to live and work in Ireland that be a cool experience though.
These days I feel like I’m always reading it, and I totally agree about Canada right now. I’m apprehensive though because anti-immigration parties seem to be on the rise, and until the trend stops I’d be afraid one election might see like UK reform or AfD come to power or some equivalent.
If you’re targeted, finding a safe path is prudent. Given the state of the world, I feel like going anywhere won’t solve the problem. People seem generally resentful of immigrants many places these days sadly.
Fair enough, but habit dies hard. Referring to each other as “my friend” is senate tradition going back forever. Republicans do it too. Warner I think believes in Senate decorum, and is trying to give disaffected republicans a path back to sanity.
Disagree. They are the type of Democrat that Virginians want. Pragmatic make government work sensibly, efficiently and fairly for everyone. I get that many want to see more progressive policies from them, but those politicians have to first win primaries and general elections statewide.
Also worth pointing out he also said he was going to rename Veterans Day to “Victory in World War I Day” or some nonsense that he doesn’t even have the power to do because the name is established by law. I guess Alcatraz is federal property, but still give this a low chance of happening.
