That elides quite a bit of history. Trust did take a hit during Vietnam and Watergate, but it fluctuated after that for a few decades and then spiked after 9/11. It was Iraq, Katrina, and 2008 that caused it to fall off the cliff.

The term "radical" is so rich. I remember during the Obama administration Republicans blocked so many nominees. I'm old enough to remember they blocked his SC nominee.

I remember on TV when Kanye made those comments. I thought he was a little over the line when he said that. But it amazes me how much since then Kanye's gone way done the rabbit hole.

To me he seems to realize the mood of the country is not good at all which means bad news for him politically. He is desperate, but all he knows is about being the center of national attention.

A lot of them are fellow veterans like myself, so we discuss a lot of times our military experience and keep political discussions to a minimum. I don’t want to unaffiliate with folks because of their politics. That’s why again I keep my own politics to myself most of the time.
I’m friends on Facebook with MAGA folks. They are fellow veterans that I served with when I was in the Navy. I see them as fellow veterans first I see them with their political affiliation. I also work with folks who also support Trump. I don’t have anything against them for that.
Anything outside of politics we have some good conversations over and I will like to crack some jokes with them.
I work with some folks who are clearly supportive of Trump, but I never discuss with them anything political, because that’s where I know where things would get awkward. And I have nothing against them for that. I just see them as fellow coworkers and citizens who I may not always agree with.
God help us if we have another Katrina like disaster 20 years later.
This is not the type of revolution Americans are asking for.

The only success in the second term was the nuclear deal with Iran that Trump scrapped in his first term. Most foreign policy experts in the US graded Obama’s second term foreign policy as poor/disastrous.
His first term was a little more successful than his second term. But all the issues in the second term with Syria, ISIS, and Ukraine were really bad.
Crimea was annexed during Obama’s second term. Donbas was invaded shortly after Crimea. The criticism @tatarigami.bsky.social has on Obama was that he didn’t provide military aid to Ukraine and the sanctions were weak in 2014. But Europe also shares some blame, particularly Germany.
Germany under Merkel was all about continuing business as usual with Putin. She pushed the Minsk agreements to Ukraine which made no difference.
Georgia was in 2008 under Bush.

I love Obama, but on Ukraine he’s right. Very weak handling and not particularly not providing military aid when the Russo-Ukraine war was limited to the eastern Donbas only helped embolden Putin years later.

Agree. While Obama’s been my favorite president in my lifetime on Ukraine he was much worse than Biden. He could have given Ukraine actual military weapons, but like Biden was too afraid to escalate with Russia.

Just to hammer this in: I don't know of an example in US history of comparable *in-person humiliation* for a US president. And of course for the country. Trump will soon realize how visibly he was "owned." In view of the whole world.

Trump should have sent his pal Witkoff packing months ago. Because of his gullibility to whatever Putin says he keeps this endless dream of Putin finally being willing to pursue peace with Ukraine. That dream is what it’s always been: a dream and nothing more.
Donald Trump at worst is causing this war to drag on because of his weakness. The whole tough guy image of Trump as his brand is clearly lacking.
