The International Rescue Committee asked Israel for permission just to send food to its own staffers. The request was denied. IRC is a well-respected, 80-year-old aid org. It was created at the behest of Albert Einstein to save Jewish refugees during WWII. www.haaretz.com/israel-news/...

two weeks ago we requested permission to bring in food solely for our Palestinian staff. These are individuals who have been vetted beyond belief, screened against all terrorism lists, reviewed through our own due diligence processes, and more. Still, that specific request – to bring food for our own staff – was rejected.

Famine expert ranks Bibi with Bashar in using starvation In Gaza "you have a capable international system that could respond at a moment’s notice. If Netanyahu wanted every child in Gaza to be fed tomorrow, he could just give that instruction and it would happen." www.newyorker.com/news/q-and-a...

In terms of the starvation of Gaza being a deliberate act, that is quite common. Netanyahu ranks with the likes of Sudan’s previous dictator, Omar al-Bashir, and Syria’s Bashar al-Assad in terms of the way that he’s used starvation as a weapon. The way that Israel and Gaza is unique is that the system of control is extraordinarily tight and precise. So in the worst sieges in Syria, people could smuggle themselves in and out. Food could get in if you bribed the right people or knew where the tunnels were. The same is true in Sudan. In Gaza, that just isn’t possible. And the other feature that makes Gaza unique is that you have a capable international system that could respond basically at a moment’s notice. If Netanyahu wanted every child in Gaza to be fed tomorrow, he could just give that instruction and it would happen.

Ghislaine Maxwell, the longtime associate of Jeffrey Epstein now serving a 20-year prison sentence for sexually exploiting and abusing teenage girls, has been moved from a federal prison in Florida to minimum-security prison camp in Texas, her lawyer said on Friday. The move, which was reported earlier by The New York Sun, came about a week after Ms. Maxwell was interviewed over two days in prison in Tallahassee, Fla., about the Epstein case by Todd Blanche, the No. 2 official in the Justice Department and one of President Trump's former lawyers. Ms. Maxwell's lawyer, David O. Markus, declined to comment on the reason for the move. Mr. Blanche met with Ms. Maxwell and Mr. Markus last Thursday and Friday amid a firestorm of criticism from Trump supporters who have called for the administration to release all federal files related to Mr. Epstein.

Mr. Digre's company has long manufactured speakers in Minnesota for export, including to a major customer in Canada. His firm relies on certain materials from China, the only place to get many small components needed for speakers. But Mr. Digre must now pay a 55 percent tariff on those Chinese imports. As a result, manufacturing for that customer from the United States no longer makes sense. So Mr. Digre has shifted speaker production to a factory in China, where he will export directly to Canada and bypass the United States entirely.

Foreign-born residents and workers around Wells have reacted to the ICE threat by trying to stay out of sight. Many are scared, said a woman from southern Africa who lives near Wells and helps connect asylum seekers with social services and jobs, including in tourism businesses. The woman, who is a naturalized U.S. citizen, asked to remain anonymous out of concern for her safety. She said that following the revelation that Wells police officers were working with ICE, some local immigrants would only attend church online and are keeping their children from school.

Residents have been facing a shortage of fresh water for drinking and cooking, and aid agencies have reported an explosion of infectious diseases because of poor sanitation.

The price of flour in Gaza. One sack. Before Oct. 7 -$14 Jan. 2024 - $100 Jan. 2025 - $150 Feb - March (ceasefire): $21 April: $150 May: $525 Past few days: $1,125 www.thefp.com/p/the-price-...

In September 2023, flour, which is sold in 25 kilogram sacks, cost around 47.5 shekels (14 U.S. dollars) in the Gazan city of Deir al-Balah, which until recently was untouched by the Israel Defense Forces and therefore less affected by the war. Since October 7, 2023, according to Spitzer, flour’s price, per 25 kilogram sack, changed as follows: January 2024: Over 300 shekels. January 2025, before the most recent ceasefire: 500 shekels. During the ceasefire: It dropped back down to 50 shekels—almost its pre-war price. Screenshot 2025-07-27 at 11.11.14 AM.png
