Not an economist. However WA State has the most regressive tax structure in the US. Sales tax, gas tax, car tabs, liquor tax, no income tax. A sizable amount of our tax revenue comes from the working and lower classes, who canāt pay anymore. Cutting programs will exacerbate our deficit crisis.
Fact checking myself: Government spending in Washington State is flat from 1980. I accidentally flipped the dividend and the divisor. That said, flat since 1980, when the cost of services compared to the rest of the economy is increasing--means we are doing less than 45 years ago.
When FoxNews agrees, things will begin to revert to the middle.
