Remember when that sovereign citizen rancher made an illegal stand on fed property and the Democratic President was only allowed to sent a few FBI agents in to talk nice because we didn't want to upset the "real American"? Yeah maybe next time the Dem Pres should just send in the military.
Isn't there some way of defining a business structure to include worker representation...board position or special stock...something that gives workers collectively a seat at the table? The Workers vs the Man thing doesn't help Dems. It's too adjacent to "socialism"
I feel like, as with other old institutions, we need to look at whether or not unions are an artifact of the 20th century that needs updating. Workers rights needs to be bigger than a union.
The GOP Senators and Pres of old like daddy Bush, didn't have to worry some crazy right wing House of Reps was gonna make their admins hell. They could be moderate and blame the Dem House.
Problem is the GOP always had a professional class that ended up Senators/Presidents and a wacko class that served as the minority party in the House for 40 years so had no power. Once the GOP won the House in the 90s it all went to hell. The wackos gained power.

Exactly. The President *executes the laws*. He doesn't do anything else. If Congress eliminates all laws and zeroed out the executive budget, the President would have no authority to do anything I don't think.

We should have a technology framework that allows people to age verify at adult sights without exposing their personally identifiable info, and porn sights should not be able to store any info they do have. It just doesn't seem like such a huge tech problem. A gov system with an API...
As as an adult if you squirm at the idea of providing some kind of age verification because it makes you feel like you aren't anonymous...well maybe ask yourself why you are afraid of people knowing you watch porn...if sex work is so ok. 🤷♂️
I know this is an unpopular opinion, but you have to show an ID to buy an adult magazine...or get into an adult movie...or use a brothel in Nevada...the idea that we safeguard kids from the absolute ocean of porn at their fingertips doesn't seem that radical.

Most gun owners don't do a mass shooting. Most are normies. Some are sportsmen who like to shoot an AR at the range. "NATIONWIDE BAN!" is just a call to arms against any gun safety legislation. We know the basic profile of these shooters. Go after them.
Respectfully, maybe we Dems need to back off the maximalist talk on weapons bans. It's young people (men really) who do most of these mass shootings. Target that age group (25<) with tightened regulations...licenses, permits, mental health checks, number of weapons limitations.

I would pass a law that required a high level of regulation on people 25 and under purchasing firearms. Require a license with a test. Require permits for each firearm. Require mental health evaluations. Target these type of mass shootings...not every type of gun violence.
Yeah, how much the choice of the school is meaningful vs easy (because of familiarity) remains to be seen. Could see it being a vegence thing against a religious school where this person felt persecuted due to identity.

I also say ...as much as anyone else...so I'm exactly making the statement that "people" can be radicalized.
I said transgender and Catholic school because the religious and gender component may play into this person's motivation. He could have had a history with the school where he felt they denied his identity, etc.

Trump is burning through millions of dollars a day and cannablizing multiple fed law enforcement departments (they're not doing their actual jobs) just to "fix" the touristy part of DC. It may work politically, but it's not sustainable nor scalable.
Every republican will point and say how great Trump is and how they can bring safety and renewal where Dems can't...and completely ignore the fact that it costs more money than they would EVER invest in a city budget.

Blue states need to build a framework for if they need to withdraw from the Federal government (a fractured Union). If the elections fail to be free and fair...there is no other option really. Accept Trump rule or withdraw from the Union.

The Trump executive branch doesn't follow the spending laws...so why would any Dem think any bipartisan legislation...even if passed...would be honored? Trump would do the GOP part and ignore the Dem part.
I do not say this lightly. I think rejecting the federal government as illegitimate and therefore fracturing the Union, is a last last last resort. But it may become necessary to preserve freedom and a constitutional order.
I wonder if it originated because for 40 years Dems held the House so GOP formulated an executive (which they won more often) theory that empowered them over a congress they could not win. Roberts, etc all came up at the end of that era in the 80s.
Blue State governors should be announcing a cooperative action plan right now...a Blue NATO so to speak. Collectively action on defense, legal coordination, commerce... If the GOP denies seating Dems in 2026 or if Trump is on the ballot in 2028...they may need to pull out of the Union.
So let's assume it all goes bad and we end up with a Union of blue states pulling out of the United States. Next would be civil war. Then the Blue Union would as for support from the West. Trump from the illiberal nations (Russia, etc) and we could very well end up in WW3.
You act like there is another option for transfer of power aside from 2026 elections and armed revolution. Armed revolution means civil war means untold number of dead and a probable global recession and maybe even a world war.
