From 2020 and 2023, Revolution Wind endured an extensive regulatory review, that included sign offs from the Pentagon and the FAA. In August 2023, the Army Corps of Engineers -- a branch of the U.S. military -- authorized the final plans for Ørsted to build 65 wind turbines for Revolution Wind.
Bill White told me that *real* national security concerns have been raised about offshore wind development near MD, VA, and NC — but not for the region near RI and MA where Revolution Wind sits. Trump paused Rev Wind's construction Friday due to "national security interests." It's 80% completed.
“Was the military at the table, represented and consulted with during this stakeholder process? The answer is: very much so,” Bill White told me today. He represented Mass on an BOEM-led task force focused on the responsible siting of wind farms south of Martha's V where Rev Wind is being built.
