This feels like a design problem. Like, can we not make them harder to knock over? Put them on telephone poles? Put a regular camera nearby to record who is knocking them over and charge them? This feels like a Parks & Rec townsfolk problem.

I would really like to read an analysis about how and why everyone starting talking about empathizing instead of sympathizing. I have a vague notion that Design Thinking may have played a role, but it’s fascinating and sometimes confusing. Sometimes I just have sympathy, not empathy!

Millennial grey was about hedging bets so anything would go with it because who knew what the future would bring. Same with business casual going with everything, including blazers at weddings and clubs. Green is like, “screw it, life is so short! Let’s add colour and make it earthy!”
I’ve seen people saying green is the new “millennial grey” in interior design and to that I say - I have been dreaming of a green corduroy couch since the 90s. If I get one, it’s a commitment.

Okay, as it approaches September here comes the inevitable question of whether I buy or attempt to make a Halloween costume for my kiddo. She wants to be a Light Fury from the How to Train Your Dragon franchise.
This has been the worse/hardest summer? Just from a string of back luck, with illness, injury, car accident, and extreme heat and bad air quality limiting what we can do with the kids outside. My climate anxiety is through the roof. Haven’t even had a proper 1st birthday celebration for baby. 😭

This has been a rough and eventful summer for us, phew.
Yeah, we are incredibly lucky our kids have four grandparents. My dad is physically disabled (currently in hospital which sucks) but is still very active in their lives. I was a zombie this morning but I’m revived. Have to take myself and the baby to the doctor for other ailments though, uhg.
I finally got them both to sleep with some help from my mom (husband has been travelling for work 😭), but 5am our building’s fire alarm went off which upsets 5yo more than anyone. Thankfully my in-laws have come over, fed us, and took kiddo to the park. 🥰
Very cool. As a parent, though, I wish I knew if there were any balcony/terrace designs that are childproof, you know? One disadvantage of condo/apartment living is that kids can’t exactly play on a balcony the way they can in a backyard. I can’t send my kids outside while I do chores inside.

I would like to learn how to silk screen t shirts myself. If only to make cute t shirts for my fam. My kiddo is into tornadoes and I can only find tornado shirts that literally say “boy loves tornadoes” or some sports or southern/midwest US themed tornado shirts.

Some of my worst fears from the past five years have all happened this summer. I’m really fucking not having a good time.
Yeah. I know some people go by whether they test negative on a covid test but I’ve also heard that presence is antibodies or whatever doesn’t correlate with contagiousness so idk. We’re also having to postpone the baby’s first birthday party over this. Sigh.
Anyone know what the consensus is now on how long COVID is contagious for? I’m planing to mask regardless for a while now, but a loved one is in hospital so I need accurate info - which is maddeningly difficult to find!
It’s amazing how much people don’t care if they’ve been exposed COVID. Been informing folks we’ve been in contact with that they’ve probably been exposed and people are just like “okay, get well soon!”

I’ve caught another plague. This summer just keeps giving.
For us it’s pickup and dropoff for my older child, so lately I try to have someone else watch the baby at pickup because of the heat. I end up driving in my walkable neighbourhood sometimes because of it. 😭
I was walking my baby in the stroller and the intermittent level of shade even on a residential street is brutal. Pavement radiating heat was too much and had to go back home.
This summer has been rough so far.
Summer and life in general as a parent would be 10000% easier if I had a backyard.
There is, statistically speaking, not a metre in all of Canada where there are too many bike lanes. Why not ask the stupidest question? Shame is dead.

I usually try to avoid driving when I can, but being temporarily car-less is emphasizing frustrations I have with the TTC. What is a ten minute drive is somehow a 30-45 minute TTC journey.
Since being in a car accident I’m hyper-fixating on finding a good stroller wagon and on maybe adding a baby seat to the bike (in addition to the kid seat), but am worried it’ll all be too heavy.

Part of the problem is being able to shop while also not looking after a baby, haha
My body is a different shape and larger than it has been most of the time, and I’ve been mostly at home since early 2020 - so I have less of an inspiration from seeing other people’s style on the daily commute or around downtown office hustle and bustle, etc.
The extent to which I have completely lost my own sense of a personal style is kinda devastating. I’ve never been a very stylish person, but I feel good when I like my clothes and the way they fit.
