Missouri is already gerrymandered to hell. We have 2 Democratic seats out of 8, representating only STL and KC. I hope this backfires spectacularly on them. In our suburban STL district, after the last census, they carved things up further than they were, to protect the useless Ann Wagner.
From what I’ve observed in my 22 years living here, apparently the majority of MO voters are sexist. In 2020 & in 2024, our Democratic candidates for governor have been women & they’ve been exponentially more qualified than our former & current governors, but they lost, & not by small margins. 😡

Yep - for sure. I fear for our country for so many reasons now. The added anxiety that this clusterf*** of an administration is causing so many of this can’t be good for anyone’s overall health, either.
Well, IL would be closest for us and it’s where we were born and raised, so definitely a possibility in a few years when my husband is retirement-eligible, if we all make it that long! At least I can work remotely since I’m in IT (I’ve been doing so for years now).
Exactly. I worry about everyone who works in public-facing roles, including teachers. People in those types of roles and their families should automatically qualify, regardless of age or underlying health issues (my husband is a teacher).
The other issue with traveling far to get a vaccine besides time away from home and work is the possibility of catching Covid while traveling, since it’s surging right now. That would defeat the whole purpose of traveling there in the first place.
It seems to depend on which state you’re in, or at least that’s what I’m seeing today. We may have options if we move fast.
I got that message as I was trying to complete scheduling my updated Covid vax, before it even got to the part where you enter insurance details. We live in MO, so it’s pretty far from Mexico or Canada and travel isn’t cheap. It looks like IL might not have the same restriction on the vax, though.
Yeah, I hear you. Unfortunately, my husband and I are still working and are more limited in options right now than we would be if we were retired. I’d imagine others in states like ours have it far worse than we do, too. It’s just crappy all around.

Yep - whenever our doorbell rings, it always scares most of our cats, and we also have a “No solicitation” sticker, but people either don’t understand what that means, or they ignore it regularly. It’s so frustrating.
They're openly calling to lock up every trans person by force. We need every ally to speak out forcefully against this because trans folks cannot do this on our own.
I’m sure that’s extremely scary, thinking back to 2020. I am lucky enough to have a 100% WFH role, but that doesn’t matter since my husband teaches 200+ middle school students every day. If teachers, frontline workers & their families aren’t eligible, we will have another huge wave on our hands.
Interesting & scary. If this super restrictive rollout stands & doctors can’t fight it, there will be negative impacts for the economy as well, because if we’re not vaxxed, we’re not going to be spending money in indoor spaces during the height of cold, flu & Covid season. I’m sure we’re not alone.
Progressives whose solution is for those in red states to just move elsewhere display an ignorance of the make-up of the so-called “red” states. They purport to care about & accept everyone, but I guess that doesn’t include those stuck in these states, many of whom are minority populations.
I’m not sure what your reply even means. You said, “Glad I live in NYC. Woke don't roll like that. Take your stupid red states and let the smart people live their lives.” Millions of us living in red states can’t just up & move to a blue state. Smart people live everywhere, not just in blue states.
This is a bad take. You do realize that millions of liberal and independent people live in “red states” too, and don’t have the ability to just leave, right? Oh, and disease ignores lines drawn on a map. We’re still free to travel in this country and all our germs come with us.

Just the other day, I attempted to have Copilot simply filter an Excel column for a date range & for blanks at the same time (I’m part of a pilot group for Copilot at work). It couldn’t do it - it just showed me the date range or the blanks, not both. I can do this - why can’t Copilot?

Most of the rest of the world gets far more guaranteed PTO than even some of the best companies to work for here in the US. 6 weeks is pretty standard in Europe. Given that Congress opts not to work each August, perhaps proposing 4 weeks of PTO for all (at minimum) would be a better starting point.

Worse - they often don’t show ads at the beginning and decide to show an ad or two only a minute into a video and then later at another random point. This is really not helpful when you’re doing YouTube workouts (this happens with short videos of only 10-15 minutes). 👎🏼 #Enshittification

On the top of the horror of the Senate bill, another depressing aspect is watching all the Democrats and Democratic groups spring into action with their boilerplate fundraising emails about "fighting back" and "not giving up." Just complete and total autopilot. No real leadership or inspiration.
One thing I see in my mentions are frequent expressions of the myths that Christianity is a religion primarily of love, peace, and inclusion and that Christians who are hateful, bigoted, or violent in the name of their religion aren’t “real” Christians. Unfortunately, history doesn’t bear that out.
