Not yet. I'm hoping to try that on individual fossils in the near future. It just depends if I can get a postdoc or fellowship to continue doing science after this funding ends in December.

Hey, me too. The amount of snobby dick heads I've had to deal with at Oxford and then in wider academia who jump on any chance to put the boot when I mispronounced a word, or they didn't like my accent. This includes pronouncing my own name.

An Orthoconic nautiloid fossil (wet and dry). "The curved septae separating the chambers are distinctive and the blobs in the centre are parts of deposits along the central siphuncle which is what connects all the chambers." Thanks to @burrengeopark for the ID and info. County Donegal, Ireland.

The most famous hunting behaviour for cuttlefish is the Broadclub Cuttlefish's (Ascarosepion latimanus) "passing-stripe" display. The cuttlefish will extend its arms and create a pattern of downward moving stripes, which confuses prey long enough for the cuttlefish to strike. 🦑📽️Julian Finn

I'd you're focal stacking, I'd recommend a dedicated program like helicon focus, over photoshop. There's much more control over the final image.

There was an injured pigeon on my commute near home. It was too timid for us to help it. I left fruit, and other people left water and nuts. But it still died. I see similar trends in my proterozoic material. The coarser "detrital" kaolinite on the low TOC shelf is relatively permeable. But the "authigenic" kaolinite in the high TOC basinal regions is very fine grained, silica cemented, and super tight.
