Asking for myself: does anyone know an Indigenous women in science at an Ivy League? I am looking for mentoring around navigating the specific elements of Ivy institutions as an early career rooted in community work… and I don’t seem to have any one to ask for advice. It’s lonely out here 🥺

Mossworm has spent the past week finding errors in iDigBio's new AI search tool and criticizing both the rationale and the implentation of AI in this widely used biodiversity database.

Massive colour appreciation of this polychaete larva (probably family Capitellidae). Loving your look, you gorgeous worm! #marineplankton 🦑

Glad to share our latest article on the statistical structure of geological time scales. doi.org/10.1016/j.ep... time scales are defined by the most extreme epoch defining events, while we've found that the distribution of the boundaries is itself extreme multifractal! 1/4 🧪 ⚒️ #Geology #Paleobio

Excited to share our pre-print examining microbial activity and carbon utilization in the serpentinizing subsurface! Tl;dr: Serpentinite-hosted microbes are notably active, thriving on DIC despite alkalinity. Implications for #astrobiology, #carboncapture, and #GeoH2! www.biorxiv.org/content/10.1...

I see similar trends in my proterozoic material. The coarser "detrital" kaolinite on the low TOC shelf is relatively permeable. But the "authigenic" kaolinite in the high TOC basinal regions is very fine grained, silica cemented, and super tight.

Perfect timing for #InverteFest because my second thesis paper is out! TLDR; I counted two bajillion hydrozoans and about a dozen guys of every other species combined on four different types of substrate (rock, mesh, plastic, and wood) to see if larvae have preferences! peerj.com/articles/198...

A photoplate from a scientific article, it shows images of a bunch of different tiny invertebrates on different substrates, including copepods, amphipods, hydrozoan and coral colonies, sponges, worms, and more.
