I met him and Cheryl at a screening of an awful horror film. Cheryl had a friend in the cast. Less than a decade ago, his voice was still strong and his eyes bright, and we had a conversation. Nice chat, because my Dad had dinner with his Uncle, JFK, twice, and he loved "Curb Your Enthusiasm".

Too young to really appreciate his talent during his heyday, but I remember him asking my Mom if she wanted to make a baby with him, when they worked together on Hollywood Squares. Different age, back then. She laughed along with him instead of making him "lawyer up."

Roger Moore WAS The Saint. Bond? Meh- even though a close family friend wrote the first 4 Moore/Bond films (and Diamonds Are Forever), I'd read the Ian Fleming novels by then, and was astounded by how far the movies were straying from the books- focusing on gadgets instead of character interaction.
I do. I was too young to see his original turns as James Bond, but my friends in NYC were older, so when I moved there in the late 70s we'd go to those Movie Palaces on 42nd street where I caught up on them and became a big fan. Funny, he really didn't care about Bond when I worked with him.
We crossed that invisible line years ago, when (then) Senate Majority Leader Addison McTurtle refused to Advise and Consent to Merrick Garland's appointment to SCOTUS, breaking centuries of precedent; then totally reversed himself for Barrett. That's when the snowball started rolling downhill.

The film was supposed to be Warner Bros' major summer release in 1995, but because of a plot line similar to what OJ Simpson was on trial for at the same time, they buried us in a February release, which was the death month for films, as everyone was focused on the Oscars in March. Ah, the memories
He hated the job- the FLA June heat and humidity was relentless, and there was constant conflict between him and Production. Everyone was intimidated by his gruff nature, but he always greeted me warmly, and he enjoyed the "craic" between us, especially when I'd imitate his distinct vocal pattern.
It was a dream job, and I have many anecdotes about the experience, but the main thrill was I got along with Sir Sean better than anyone else on the set. He even invited me for a round of golf, which is a long tale on its own, but resulted in him gifting me his set of Golf Clubs.

I worked every level of food service, from dishwasher to line cook. My problem is asking for a table, and their answer is always "Do you have a reservation?" Dip shit, if I had a reservation those would have been the first words out of my mouth. They've already drawn a battle line, before I enter.
So true- I know shit happens and am extremely forgiving to servers, but a bit less tactful with Management. When I discovered a small slug in my salad at a fairly high end restaurant and couldn't get anyone's attention until the invader had disappeared, I made sure the exec chef heard about it.

I saw a lot of those caps when we went to the horse races in Wetherby. I won enough to pay for my Sausage Bap, so I consider Yorkshire to be the source of great Fortune!
They were brilliant- I sent them a copy of the tape when the film came out, and their distinct accents worked perfectly. They loved the movie, so their part in Cinema History cemented our kinship. We all had a good laugh about it when they came to CA for Ben's wedding the next year.

I had to submit a self tape audition for an "undisclosed feature film" so after supper I read the scene with my new Yorkshire friends reading the other characters' lines. I didn't get the part-it turned out to be that of the Old Miner in the stagecoach with Tyne Daly in Ballad Of Buster Scruggs!

We were only there three days, but it was magic. First time I've ever seen a badger or heard a fox call- now I'm obsessed with returning, especially to Whitby and the Moors.
I'm close friends with Christopher Morahan's son, Ben, and went to London to speak at Christopher's memorial. Ben's wife has an aunt in Wetherby so we drove up to visit. Since it was my only Saturday night in the UK that visit, I opted to spend it in York for a taste of the nightlife. Good choice!

It's lovely- my only problem was I stayed in a still working convent near Mickelgate. They had a new Night Staff who didn't know how to turn off the bells, so I didn't sleep much. My next nights, at Wood Hall, near Wetherby, were much more tranquil.

Hope Lange and Don Murray were wed in April, 1956, in Hollywood at a civil ceremony. In March, the following year, they had a son- me. He was working on From Hell To Texas and she visited him on set, having just wrapped Peyton Place. They never stopped looking at me like this for 60+ years...
