Its stations clearly marked as accessible - not left for us to gamble on. Schedules that are actually updated. Staff who know what disability means and don’t treat us like a nuisance. Apps that operate properly. Passengers who don’t steal disabled seats with a smirk and someone to enforce.
Accessibility on public transport isn’t ramps and a sticker slapped on a “priority” seat. It’s buses not tearing off before we’re seated. Announcements that don’t sound like static. Ticket machines that don’t fry our nervous systems. Trains that don’t punish us for moving slower. 🧵🧶
“Money doesn’t buy happiness” On its own no. But it does buy the ability for money not to be a constant worry, so you can focus on other things… including being able to do things that do make you happy. Financial wellbeing & stability is a huge aspect of overall health.

Something we don’t talk nearly enough about, when it comes to autism: social motivation vs. social battery. Personally, I frequently feel shame because I *want* to socialize tons more, but my battery is often depleted by routine tasks that other people find fairly easy.
