Nobody deserves to get shot. But we all make choices that make getting shot more or less likely. If you carry a military grade weapon into a peaceful rally, you are inviting scrutiny and possible physical retribution. A better choice would have been for him to remain home if he were scared.
historyinthefaking.bsky.social (@historyinthefaking.bsky.social) reply parent
Obviously racism is a huge problem in this country. You would have to be blind and deaf and dumb to not know that. Guns do not solve that problem. They make it worse. They make everything worse.
historyinthefaking.bsky.social (@historyinthefaking.bsky.social) reply parent
I guess my only question is would he have been shot had he not been carrying that gun? Nothing good ever comes from someone carrying a high-powered military-grade weapon. Fact. Politics aside. Race aside. Nothing Else Matters other than the fact that he was carrying a really large gun.
historyinthefaking.bsky.social (@historyinthefaking.bsky.social) reply parent

historyinthefaking.bsky.social (@historyinthefaking.bsky.social) reply parent
Naah. They saw a big gun. If anything, I'm more afraid of white people with guns. In general, race doesn't matter when guns are involved. Guns suck and they embolden bad people to do bad things. Anytime I see someone with a gun, I immediately assume they intend me harm.
historyinthefaking.bsky.social (@historyinthefaking.bsky.social) reply parent
Are you claiming that gun owners are an oppressed minority? There are more guns in America than there are people. Give me a break.
historyinthefaking.bsky.social (@historyinthefaking.bsky.social) reply parent
And I don't think guns have any place at rallies of any kind. They don't allow them at NRA rallies. Why would they let them carry at any other rally? Guns do not prevent violence. They cause it. That is a fact based on years of scientific data. Masks prevent disease. Also a fact.
historyinthefaking.bsky.social (@historyinthefaking.bsky.social) reply parent
I didn't say most leftists are anti-gun. I said he thought most leftists were anti-gun. Which is why he felt emboldened to bring his gun to the rally. The otherwise peaceful rally. He didn't think there would be any pushback. He was being a bully
historyinthefaking.bsky.social (@historyinthefaking.bsky.social) reply parent
Wanting to be safe would have been staying at home. He made a choice to antagonize people he thought were anti-gun. There would have been no shooting and no death had he not been there to instigate an encounter. Hence, felony murder.
