Hollander POTD Dennis Scott. G Tech shooter went to Final 4 in 90. Drafted 4th by ORL. Great spot up shooter + used his rump to post up small SFs. Was slow + didn't do much besides shoot but fit well w/Shaq. Left for DAL in 97 + played til 00. Now doing work on NBA TV.
Cleaves was one of 4 pros from that 99-00 title team (Charlie Bell, Jason Richardson & Mo Pete).....
Hollinger POTD Mateen Cleaves. Star Michigan State PG was drafted 14th by DET in 00. Good defender but lacked a pro shot. Had 5 ppg 3 apg as a rook then traded to SAC in 01 where he played even less. Also played w/CLE & SEA thru 06. Now an asst coach for PHO.

Hollander POTD Tiny Archibald. UTEP PG via the Bronx. Drafted in 2nd round of 70 draft by CIN & was star by year 2. Famously peaked in 72-73 (34 ppg 11.4 apg) before injuries slowed him down. Looked done by late 70s but revived career w/BOS in the early 80s. Retired in 84. HOFer.

Bonus Hollander POTD Darnell Hillman. Dr. Dunk was drafted 8th by GS in 71 but signed w/IND in ABA. We remember the fro but was solid workman PF, peaking at 14 ppg + 9 rpg. After merger, declined & bounced around to NJ, DEN, KC & GS before retiring in 1980 at age 30.
In 83, HOU had the 1st & 3rd draft picks and took Sampson & McCray. McCray was pretty good but, in hindsight, Drexler was the best player in that draft:

Peterson led the 99-00 MSU title team in scoring. They had 4 future NBAers (Peterson, Jason Richardson, Mateen Cleaves, and Charlie Bell). They won their tourney games by at least 9 points. Freshman G & future PHO owner Mat Ishbia had 0.5 ppg.
