Hollander POTD Dennis Scott. G Tech shooter went to Final 4 in 90. Drafted 4th by ORL. Great spot up shooter + used his rump to post up small SFs. Was slow + didn't do much besides shoot but fit well w/Shaq. Left for DAL in 97 + played til 00. Now doing work on NBA TV.

SI 96-97 Preview POTD Priest Lauderdale. Huge C for Central St was drafted 28th by ATL in 96. Barely played for ATL & DEN thru 98. Played abroad, mostly in the Middle East & Bulgaria thru 2011. Was physically opposing but to slow even for the 90s NBA pace.

Bonus Hollander POTD Earl "The Twirl" Cureton. Detroit F was 3rd round pick by PHI in 79. Won ring in 83 + then went to DET, CHI, LAC + CHA. Spent most of 90s playing abroad but came back to HOU late in 94 & won a ring. Isiah signed him for a few games in 97 for TOR too. RIP.

Hollander POTD Tiny Archibald. UTEP PG via the Bronx. Drafted in 2nd round of 70 draft by CIN & was star by year 2. Famously peaked in 72-73 (34 ppg 11.4 apg) before injuries slowed him down. Looked done by late 70s but revived career w/BOS in the early 80s. Retired in 84. HOFer.

Hollander POTD Robert Parish. Before his years in BOS, Chief was a mystery prospect & there was concern he'd be another Larue Martin. GS drafted him 8th in 76 & he was pretty good. Per bio "lacking fundamentally but he is a learner." He did learn pretty well from there.

Hollinger POTD Michael Redd. Ohio St SG drafted 43rd by MIL in 00. Played only 6 gms as rook but evolved to 6th man in 01-02. Started in 03-04 & had 21+ ppg thru 2010 (peak 26.7 ppg in 06-07). Injured in 09, basically ending career. This bio correctly predicts his breakout.

Hollander POTD Wes Matthews. Speedy Wisconsin G was drafted 14th in 80 by WAS. Traded mid-rookie yr to ATL, where he spent 4 yrs as a solid back up. Bounced around the NBA thru 1990 but his scoring peak of 12.4 was rookie year. Son had a long NBA career too.

Hollander POTD Reggie Miller. UCLA SG was 11th pick by IND in 87. Quickly became a star w/24.6 ppg season in 89-90. Talked a lot smack and inspired many players to try to hit him hard. Still, relentless & was good thru his retirement in 2005. HOFer.

Bonus Hollander COTD Allan Bristow. Hustling SF from Va Tech started w/PHI + went to ABA w/SA. Also played w/UTA & DAL. Peaked at 11.6 ppg 6 rpg. As a coach, led CHA to 1st playoffs in 93. Fired in 96, he became GM w/DEN where he set up a tanking strategy that worked too well.

Hollander POTD Kobe Bryant. Went from HS to NBA + was able to engineer a trade to LA. Was erratic but exciting as a rookie. Became huge media star early but wasn't actual superstar til 99-00. No one ever outworked him. Had 25 ppg for career. RIP.

Hollander POTD Rik Smits. Dutch C from Marist was drafted 2nd by IND in 88. Took 5 yrs to develop but was consistently good from 93-00. Great scorer but never much of a boarder/blocker. All-star in 98 + solid til retirement in 2000 at age 33 and could've played longer.

Jones had 7,789 points to lead the ABA thru 71, 683 more than Dampier. Thereafter, Dampier scored another 6,620 points to lead the ABA, while Jones only had another 1,862, ending 16th overall by the time the ABA folded in 76.
