Had a lovely day out there two years ago, a bit tricky to get there by bus from Penzance but I managed.

I'll be voting for Josh as I believe he's the better candidate, although Prue Bray has merits and will get my second preference, I won't even consider the other one.

I'm afraid its looking more like Flanby Hollande.

Also several of the packages that come with Apex are useful outside of APEX such as for QR code generation.

As someone who meddles with APEX a couple of times a year, using it for things like this is great.

Has anyone looked at the final polls last time that had willingness to vote and compared them to the turnout because my memory says that the polls were predicting a higher turnout than what transpired?
Iain (@iainbhx.bsky.social) reply parent
Of course, Reform have overall gained councillors from defections, which none of the others have. And only Reform and the LibDems are positive in principal council by-elections since May. So their performance in losing councillors is very average really. 2 /2
Iain (@iainbhx.bsky.social)
Thanks to a member of a political forum who is a diligent chap, we have some stats on resignations or changes of alligience for the four largest parties. Tories: 115 / 4,413 = 2.60% Labour: 118 / 6,134 = 1.92% Reform: 15 / 810 = 1.85% Lib Dems: 30 / 3,197 = 0.94% 1 / 2

I'm not entirely sure this is true and that someone hasn't been fed a line. Not only is the candidate dead, but the Mayoral role has an area qualification - candidate needs to be on the electoral register, own a house or land or a business in the borough. Hence why a pensioner from Bradford.

I make it 15, but it’s been more than outweighed by by-election wins since May and by defections to reform. They will probably pass in Greens in the number of councillors on principal authorities by the end of the year.

If you want an allotments based scandal, the City of Birmingham with over 7,000 allotment places at 113 different sites has council staff support of 0.6 of an officer. Bare in mind that some of the not doing so well sites don't have allotment committees or their committee is not functional.

Counter-counter-argument: In Brum we have just over 7,000 allotments, they are 85% occupied, many of the most popular ones have waiting lists but there are some which aren't popular and some which are very unpopular. The very unpopular ones could be re-purposed as has happened to some small sites.

Iain (@iainbhx.bsky.social) reply parent
Now if I could work it out surely their bigbrains could and talk about that and how Labour was winning seats they'd never had a sniff at before, that the LibDems were killing it and Indos and Grn were doing very well in some seats. But no, lets cut to a shot of Farage through a window eating a meal.
Iain (@iainbhx.bsky.social) reply parent
It would be nice if they actually told you what was going on instead of endless chatter between pundits about pundit things. I think by 2am, I a rank amateur at this game, had worked out that the turnout badly down, that Labour were probably at 35% and that reform were underperforming the poll.
