She is using it as a transcription service. She is pretty clear that she is not using it to diagnose. As someone who has been the secretary of many organizations and committees, it seems like making a record of conversation is a reasonable use of the technology

Once upon a time, popular authors like Asimov would put their name on anthologies of stuff they read that inspired them. Readers will look up their favorite authors to find out their influences. They don't need to start with those earlier authors.

In science fiction, so much of what is "classic" was essentially written for one man: John W. Campbell, the editor of the pre-eminent US SF magazine. Even the stuff published elsewhere, because it was often sent to him first. Think on what it means to have a whole genre filtered through one dude.

LLMs are not a research or writing tool, full stop. It cannot be trusted to generate true information. To the extent that it shows its sources and you can check them, it's just adding another layer of work on top of using a search engine. The primary use people are selling is openly fraudulent.
