The ghouls think people outside their immediate circle are interchangeable - no specialized skills, no talents, no years of training, no particular abilities. They’re not people in the ghouls’ eye - just economic units

Later than the Texas invasion (presumably part of the Civil War), federal troops were sent in to suppress the labor movement and murdered people. bsky.app/profile/katm...

Personal hypothesis: the right wing spent so many decades spouting “government is the enemy of the people”, now that they pull the levers they think it’s their turn to be the enemy of the people, and they’re acting like it.

How would your body differentiate between the same molecule coming from different sources? For example, how would your body react differently to glucose if it came from sugar cane / sugar beet / a cow / wood / petroleum?

Maybe this will help: Naval personnel from Great Lakes visiting Chicago in uniform often take the Metra UP-N line into Ogilvie train station. Perhaps they could use some reminders that they are not obligated to obey unconstitutional orders.

If you mention COVID around here (U.S.), people leap out of the woodwork to tell you “it’s just a cold”, and “If you don’t test, you don’t have it”. Every social interaction has become a guessing game of choosing whether brining it up is worth it.

Ok, technically Lysenkoism is specific to agricultural breeding practices based on false notions, but in common parlance it has become shorthand for science driven by political support instead of facts and data. It still kills through misinformation.

Soviet agronomist Trofim Lysenko killed millions through famine with his whackadoodle theories because he was politically favored. In his honor, politically-driven science is called “Lysenkoism”. RFK Jr is even LESS qualified than Lysenko. Expect similar results. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lysenko...

I was dismayed to see opinions in a university parents’ group. A parent of a new student asked what COVID policies are, and a popular response was “If you don’t test, you don’t have it!”. Another was simply “it’s just a cold”. My “you’re not free to be a menace to society” argument was unpopular.

Pro tip for people who need to attend a training session to use scientific equipment: Don’t ask “Can I show up an hour late?” to a one-time three-hour group training. Especially one that you’d already agreed to attend at that time. It’s not a good look.

Is the USPS still required to fully fund something like 70 years of pensions for its employees? That’s been a major drag on its finances, reducing its performance to the point some think it’s a deliberate attempt to make it fail and get replaced by private corporate service.
