Treating housing as an investment and leaving it up to “the market” to supply stock has been a complete disaster everywhere, and yet politicians almost everywhere (including our own) refuse to let go of this utterly failed policy and it’s ENRAGING

There’s so much about this article that is *unhinged*, but let’s start with this: “the boy’s death does not appear to involve self-defense” Well no, because HE WAS AN 11 YEAR OLD CHILD. Do they even hear themselves anymore? edition.cnn.com/2025/09/01/u...

We could do it in a consent-centred way, where we just say it without the handshake, if preferred, or high five or fist bump instead.

I felt very awkward about it as a kid, but the whole shaking hands and saying “Peace be with you” thing was quite nice. We should do it now, but without the pervasive shaming and incarceration of women and children.

It was. When I see him the words “sure, we all partied” echo in my head, brings me right back to when he said it. The sinking feeling that there’ll be no justice or recourse for little people, but the crowd in the Galway races tent will be grand.

What really gets me about the whole Bertie running for President thing is his apparent complete lack of shame. Genuinely, I get shivers when I see him after all the pain and despair for so many people that followed his time as Taoiseach. Please, fuck off.

I get why ppl want a presidential election to be ruthless, but is there any chance the ruthlessness of it leads to a ballot filled almost entirely with ignorant twats, while quality candidates stay out to avoid months of exhausting scrutiny and being slammed for every tiny mistake they’ve ever made?

The German police brutally assault an Irish woman protesting against Israel's genocide. The German state is a disgrace. It committed genocide against the Jewish people - far from its only genocide. It forced Palestinians to pay the price, viciously silencing anyone who objects

Same for Ireland imo. Yes, waitlists are a disaster, the trolley situation is insane, & we have a long way to go still in terms of addressing paternalism in the system, but at least we pay no more that €80 per month for medications and won’t go bankrupt for having cancer or a heart attack.

If I’m trying to talk to someone who knows nothing about queer experiences (someone inclined to understand but doesn’t), I don’t know how helpful it would be to use the terms I’m used to If I need to reach them, I will use language they can understand as long as it’s not a slur or obv offensive

I think this is really interesting. I’ll use whatever terms people prefer for themselves, but there are times when these terms can get in the way of communication Sometimes, when we’re politically very socially conscious and our language reflects that, we can end up speaking over people’s heads imo
