Maybe it's just me, but I had never heard the word "jab" used to describe a vaccination. "Shot," yes, but never "jab." It's amazing how ubiquitous that word became.

On a more positive note, I had time to hang out for a little bit tonight with Rob, who does the prog rock show that comes on after mine. I guess that's what made me nostalgic for the way it used to be.
I loved Thursday nights at the radio station because it was a social scene. People would finish their shows, go have a beer and something to eat, come back, and hang out on other shows. But during the pandemic, we had to produce our shows at home. And some folks never came back to the station. 📻

Rode my bike to campus and back and later to the grocery store. A nice bike ride or a walk helps keep my mind right, especially these days.

i wish brands would include more technical information in their product descriptions. i don't need to know this was inspired by timeless italian men summering in nantucket who could dress up or down. i want to know the fabric weight, leather tanning method, seam construction, etc.

Murder Kroger was my main store. Sometimes on the weekends, I'd go to the Publix at Ansley Mall.
Perhaps visitors/tourists will also be customers. It's a totally different scenario, but the downtown Kroger here in Savannah is truly a crossroads for all sorts of people. It's hard to imagine what it would be like without it.

When I worked at Georgia State and lived in the Mattress Factory lofts 25 years ago (!) I seem to remember a small Kroger store downtown. I guess that didn't last?

I almost canceled class this morning because I lost my presentation clicker. Instead, I advanced the slides using the computer keyboard, showing my remarkable ingenuity and resolve. The students applauded for several minutes.

Stressful dream last night about being unprepared for a conference presentation spanned decades of my career (It was a combined college radio and public administration conference). Woke up anxious, but I know why I had this dream. It's the first day of class! And I am prepared!

Tomorrow I start my fourth academic year as the world's oldest junior faculty member. I hope they keep letting me do this job.

My father was understandably frustrated with me. Years later, when I was applying for a doctoral program, I requested my undergraduate transcript. They accidentally sent me my father's transcript and I got to see his Spanish grades. That's when I learned my condition was hereditary.
That was my "final exam." It probably didn't help to switch back and forth between French and Spanish classes. I'd had every professor in the department and none of them could teach me. I was an embarrassment, which is why she told me to "never come back."
I was so bad at Spanish that I took a class literally every term I was in college and still couldn't pass the final course I needed to graduate. Department chair finally said, "Come to my office and try to talk with me in Spanish for five minutes, then leave and never, ever come back here again."
