Overigens heb ik het over een morele plicht, niet een wettelijke. Zoals we die allemaal hebben.
In aanvulling: media kunnen het politiek-maatschappelijk debat sturen door onderwerpen groter/kleiner te maken, verantwoordelijken en experts wel/niet uit te nodigen, zaken wel/niet tijdens primetime te agenderen. Ben verbaasd dat je die rol niet ziet.
Ik reken (onderzoeks)journalistiek ook tot de media. Waarom zijn bepaalde beleidskeuzes gemaakt? Hoe zijn budgetten voor veiligheid op straat de laatste jaren ontwikkeld? Wat beloven politici/wethouders) en wat is daar 2 jaar later van gerealiseerd? Iedereen kan een rol(letje) spelen, ook de media.
Eens, maar dat ontslaat ons (burgers, instanties, politici, media) niet van de plicht ons maximaal in te spannen om de geweldscijfers omlaag te krijgen.
Ambtenaren voeren gesprekken over ‘ambtelijk vakmanschap’: hoe blijven ze professioneel met ministers van een bepaalde signatuur. Dat is goed en nodig. Jammer dat het gesprek nooit gaat over politiek-bestuurlijk vakmanschap. Het zijn de politici die er al jarenlang een potje van maken.
En wat ook niet normaal is: koketteren met een halsketting met vrolijke boerderijdiertjes, waarvan er jaarlijks 600 miljoen worden geslacht na een k*tleven.

Don't disagree, but I'd also say that elected officials have failed the US public profoundly. Refusing to do what's right, breaking the Union, ignoring the rule of law, wrecking the economy and old alliances. They are responsible first and foremost.
