Mrs. Lungs is downstairs rewatching a Brit TV murder mystery she fell asleep watching earlier. I have given her no spoiler alerts, but I did solve this one before the amateur sleuths did.
"Then Came Bronson" was the coolest show. Back when teevee still had some good ideas. I remember some of the other shows, too. "Now & Again" was terrific.

They absolutely LOVE sedum, especially the Autumn Joy variety. Ours is packed with bees right now. Also, sedum is tough as nails, drought resistant, and grows anywhere the sun shines.

I had to use that as a bargaining chip with my sister to stop her from challenging every step I took as executor of my mom's very modest estate. I suspect she was also the reason it was very modest.

Customers sometimes showed up speaking in Arabic, presuming Al'Jean to be of Middle Eastern origin. In fact, it was a mashup of my aunt and uncles' names, Al & Jean Moffitt.
As a youth, I spent some time working at the Al'Jean Dairy, the largest goat dairy in Indiana. There, I learned a lot about goats, life, and work, not especially in that order.

Apparently our nation's worst Secretary of Defense is in town for a Twins game, along with his comically oversized security detail. This may be the greatest concentration of losers in Minnesota since the 2008 Republican National Convention.
It actually IS pretty good. I had some last year. Not like the paella we had in Spain good, but pretty good just the same.

I had the biscuits & gravy with two over-easy eggs on my last visit to the Fair and it hit the spot.
We're staying home tomorrow, but Mrs. Lungs is channeling the MN State Fair by creating her version of the Peg Muffin. The Peg, as many of you know, is an Old School eatery hidden behind the Hort-Ag Building.

It seems like the only challenge the Minnesota Lynx can't overcome in 2025 is getting on the front page of the Strib sports section. 🤔
Got out for a walk with Mrs. Lungs, so my day is already looking up.
We had a slow start, but this month we have seen them just about every day. We're seeing males, too, which is unusual at the Manor.
No winning numbers. Looks like I'll have to continue not going to work. 😉
Mrs. Lungs said this was one of the highlights of her visit to the Fair.

If the failing side wants to waste time, money, and resources on a booth that doesn't seem to reach anyone not already inside their base, I won't object. 😉 I was scheduled to do some volunteer work at the Fair for the DFL before my health took an unexpected turn. Next year, fer sure!
I'm glad the Strib followed up on this story, which was 1st shared online.
While there are a number of booths at the Minnesota State Fair that could be classified as "political," only one targets a specific elected official with vitriolic content. It is NOT a DFL/progressive/lefty/socialist booth. We may our problems, but being hateful losers isn't one of them.
When IU fired Corso, he first heard about on the radio. Asshole Athletics Director didn't have the guts to tell him to his face.
I remember when Lee Corso was the IU football coach. His telegenic personality made him a sought-after spokesperson for teevee commercials in the Indy market. In the days before collage coaches' salaries went sky-high, he made more as a pitchman than as a Division 1 football coach.
Wondered why some random guy asked me if the Twins won their last game before I realized I was wearing the Twins t-shirt Mrs. Lungs got for me. Her former employer manages the retirement plans for the ball club.
"Put cash in the bank before you stop working." It may sound Old School, but this bit of evergreen advice will serve you well.
After we retired, we purchased an ACA plan, as neither of us were yet eligible for Medicare. When the state was convinced we were making a fraction of our previous income (they won't take your word for it) we were moved to a MinnesotaCare plan.
It is even worse if the last thing you saw was the spider, and it seemed bigger than your face* * Yep, happened to me, yet I still live to say this.

Bottom line is I got the best news possible, and after a uncomfortable week, I am feeling SO much better. I still have some health issues to resolve, but I trust the team who has been caring for me so well.
While I have complained a bit about my health lately, I need to give a shout-out to the lab techs, nurses, docs, etc. who have been caring for me. I would be in a world of hurt w/o them, and I know they have had my back these past few weeks, and I thank them.
There IS a resistance organization, even there. I'm part of it.

The dogs wore their "please pet me vests," offering love and comfort to those processing this heartbreaking tragedy. 15/10 for all

I'm a veteran from a family of veterans, and my advice is don't join until this nation is in better hands.
After a miserable week at home following my surgery, my last clinic visit went well. I'll spare you the details of my post-operative complications, but it wasn't fun.
I would absolutely buy that. My first job was at WH, and I still like their food, all these years later.

Update: Seeing some online indications that The Frontier Saloon may be closed. I won't likely go to the Fair this year, so I cannot confirm or deny.
Mike's Hamburgers and Hotdogs at the corner of Carnes & Nelson offers $3 burgers and hotdogs, but no beer. The Frontier Saloon on Carnes has a good beer list, and has had some of the cheapest food at the Fair for years.
People will attend the remaining Twins games this year, for some reason.
