On the same day that the Green Party is enjoying widespread media attention, Your Party is charting the anti-trans backwaters.
Rail travel on the continent is much cheaper because they subsidise it more, and build more of it. They have had high speed rail for decades. There is no link between technology and ticket cost - otherwise our railways would be really cheap, because our signalling tech is decades out of date.

He can’t do that unilaterally. There has to be due process otherwise you end up with a situation like Shahrar Ali winning in court. It sends a clear signal for the future of the party, though.

Twitter/X was last profitable in 2019. I don’t think we should rely on social media at all, *especially* if it’s not sustainable. If you’re dependent on social media, and want others to change their behaviour, I’d encourage you to reflect on why that is.
If you’re going to call people out on how they use Bluesky, you should probably make a better argument than “investors won’t keep giving money to Bluesky”. I’m not dependent on Bluesky. I don’t think anyone should rely on it. If you’re mad at us because you’re dependent on it, that’s on you.
I didn’t make any pronouncements on whether Mastodon was toxic or not - only that I tended to enjoy spending time there more, personally. I’m sure you might get insulted in some IRC chat rooms, or web forums too - but that doesn’t mean there isn’t a role for a plurality of communities on the web.

On the old web we had BBS, web forums, IRC, blogs, and podcasts. They were sustained by open standards and software anyone could run. If a monolithic social network isn’t sustainable, I know where I’ll spend most of my time instead. Do you?
You could say that Mastodon simply distributes the problems across the owners of several social networks, rather than one - and that’s true. I would add that I feel much happier using Mastodon, where I tend to speak to like-minded people. That’s what communities are.
It’s a social network. I’m here because a lot of my friends are here. If Bluesky packs up, people will go somewhere else and I will decide where to go. Honestly, I wish people had picked Mastodon because I sincerely don’t think the single, monolithic social network works as a model.

No. We have our red lines. The European Convention on Human Rights is the foundation of trans rights in the UK. I will not vote for my human rights to be undermined. Relying on the “lesser of two evils” is how you end up with The Democratic Party.

I think it’s very unfair say we’re not trans inclusive. I think we’ve got the strongest policies, and we’ve got a definition of transphobia that sets us apart from every other party. But I do hope Zack wins. It would be transformative, even so.
It would be seriously disappointing, I’m not going to lie. But Zack has, by far, the most endorsements - and Green Party policy is decided by its members, so I wouldn’t write us off. I don’t think we’d be that much worse than we are today, even with Adrian as an (incompetent) incumbent.
But we have the aforementioned manifesto policies, a definition of transphobia endorsed by the party power structures, a disciplinary process (it’s not great, but we have one), and a leadership candidate with the most endorsements who pledged his support of trans rights in his campaign.
Approximately the same in terms of MPs, yeah.

I think there’s a good chance that we end up with the solution with the carve-outs when the dust has settled, they’ll be the only crumbs this government will be willing to throw us.
I’m fairly sure of it. They were expecting to use the FWS judgement to campaign for changing the Equality Act. I think the Interim Update was based on the work they were doing before the judgement to say how they thought the act should work - they just got far more than they expected.

Just been to the doctor to talk about switching up my HRT, and he told me that I’ve lost 13 kilos in two years. On the one hand I’d like to take the credit, because I’ve not really been trying hard - just cycling more for the love of it. But on the other, 2023 was an exceptionally shit year.
111/NHS direct is a joke. Having to misgender yourself to the people there for no reason is outright humiliating. It's designed to put trans people off reaching out for healthcare support. There were years of surveys that worked on finding respectful ways to gather this information, disregarded.
