Someone needs to vibe code an AI bot that scours threads for people using insults, ad hominems, and other bad faith arguments. Or just piling on. Then maked block lists on each of those anti-social activities.

I want to make the Democratic Party attractive to the left-most 55% because I want to win elections. But I see people representing the rightmost 40 of that 55 (15%‐55%) get insulted and attacked with ad hominems.

Public Housing In My BackYard. It's the answer to YIMBYism where the new housing is built by the government instead of private developers. The idea is that it can run without making a profit. But in fact, it turns out to be really expensive to build and gets bogged down in bureaucracy.

You don't need to turn your back on any causes to talk about them in the language that a 45 yo high school graduate in a Midwestern state can understand. They aren't dumb even if they don't know that unhoused is the term for homeless "without the stigma of being homeless".

Mark Hamann (@ki7bda.bsky.social) reply parent
Everybody already knows they are a person. Making clunky new words is just euphemusm treadmill. It doesn't stick because most people in prison did something harmful and won't shake the stigma for having done what they did.

Is interesting that Kevin Kruse hasn't weighed in on the Third Way list like Hobbes and Jamelle. They usually are the same page. I wonder if it's because Kruse just admonished Dems to not criticize Cooper for saying he prayed on a decision to run for Senate.

I don't understand why people are so defensive about this list of words. There is no need to be invested in words that turn off voters. It's like when the right got really invested in the word "retard" and that turned off the liberals. To this day, I still know that MY used it and I don't know why.

I'm not sure it's individual candidates. A lot of people are at the point that they will never vote for a D no matter what the D candidate says. We have to change the shape of the media environment. That means not using language that separates people into in-the-know and not-in-the-know.
