I can’t imagine any other president allowing that kind of sycophancy to go on. Obama would have cut that off quickly and said we have work to do.

Both senators, the governor, and the state government were Democrats in 1970. However, this is modern day Republican's favorite deflection. Without the context of Nixon's southern strategy and the cultural/political reversal of the north and south it's misleading. It's south/north not D/R.

It's hard to know what's more troubling, Trump's depravity as a human and incompetence as a president or the sycophancy of those around him born of desire or fear. It's a terrible commentary on the USA.
