With all the bookban crap happening in AB I decided to read Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury. Yeah everyone should read it and so many other books. Iām only about 40 pages in and itās already kind of nailed a bunch of stuff happening today, including the move towards āwellnessā.

Are these kids away from their parents for the first time ever in their lives? Did they never go to camps, have sleepovers etc. And if they are then why did they believe they would be okay with it? Is there a stigma to staying in your hometown for school?
I see all these N. American university/college freshman on social media, crying and saying they want to go home, that they hate living in residence etc. Why did they apply to schools far away from home? What did they think was going to happen?

I was in the airport on Monday sitting at a departure gate beside someone who works for a developer. They were talking about Wasaga and salivating over the prospect of building. It was gross to listen to her describe destroying nature and putting profits above all else.
I just donāt want this to stress her out and be her main focus. Sheās a teenager at Uni. She should be working hard in school but still having a great time and some fun. Having this on top of her other health issues (she has epilepsy) doesnāt help. I just want her to be able to have some normalcy
She was deficient but she has been monitored for the last two yrs and has been taking pretty strong iron supplements for that time. This just happened all of sudden starting about two weeks ago. Itās big clumps.
I just dropped her off earlier this week and already feel like I need to fly back out there to go the appt with her to make sure they really listen to her and donāt just try to do what Drās do to women all the time, and ignore them and their symptoms
Even when your kid moves out you never stop worrying. Kid that lives across the country for Uni is having some weird health problems. Her hair is falling out in huge clumps. She is freaking out. Iām freaking out. She has a Dr appointment but I have no doubt they will try to pass it off as stress
We have gone to HI every year for the last 17 yrs. We, as a family, have decided that we are not going to travel there this year or any subsequent year until things change. I love Hawaii, we have so many great memories from HI, but this was not a hard decision. People suck

I love dogs (like really love them) but this is a big no for me unless itās a service animal. If you want to watch a movie with your dog, do it in your home on your couch. There are enough streaming services. Dogs donāt need to go everywhere with you.
I used to go to critical mass rides every month, but havenāt gone in almost two yrs. Some of the people that were participating put people in really unsafe scenarios and it became really difficult dealing with the people on the ride and drivers. Everyone needs to do better
I used to ride my bike a lot when we first moved to Vancouver, Iāve only ridden it once this summer because of this kind of crap. I just choose to walk now or transit in place of riding
It was a lot of these people deserve to get run over and I wouldnāt hesitate to take them out with my car kind of thing. Really disturbing given what has happened recently with cars hitting people in this city. But itās bikes so no one will take anything seriously. It sucks.

Just finished the first season of Dept Q. Itās a great show. Glad to see Netflix didnāt do its regular thing and cancel one of its best shows one season in. Highly recommend. Matthew Goode is great in it as are the rest of the supporting cast.

The other stupidest thing about this, is I have to drive about 15 mins to actually get to the train station b/c York Region transit (or whatever itās called now) doesnāt have a bus route anywhere close to where I am staying.
Like why is it going to be cheaper and likely faster for me to drive and park than to take the train (there are 3 of us going so itās going to be $66 round trip). GO needs to desperately electrify so the train trips can be much faster
What the hellā¦..I need to go in to TO today from a suburb North of Toronto. After 8:30 am the GO train only runs once an hour and it takes and hour despite only having 4 stops. Itās also $11 one way. Transit should be so much better than it is in N. America and especially in Canadaās biggest city

Yes, so are my kids. Iām not old, Iām not a vulnerable groups, Iām not immuno-compromised. I got notification I was eligible in March of this yr which was 6 months past the yr point from the previous yrs and 5 months past me going to the US. Only one of my kids was notified she was eligible.

Driving through Vaughan and there is a huge Go Station parking lot but surrounded by SFH and 6 lanes of roadways. Why wasnāt some of that space used to rapid bus lanes or trains? The region is only growing and now that SFHās have been built right up to the street there is no space for new transit

We lived in Japan for 5 yrs and have moved several times. Iām so grateful for every experience my kids have been able to have. They know the world is theirs to explore and now that they are older they are both up for big adventures.
Took 6 days with each kid, stayed in hotels along the way. We drove about 8 hrs a day, stopped at all the weird roadside sites, pretty much anywhere that had a historical sign or big statue. It was great for them to see the country and great for me to spend that much I do usual time with each kid

3 yrs ago I drove with one kid from Vancouver to TO (I used to do the trip 2x a yr when I went to Uni in Van but was from. The GTA) and then with the other on the way home. Itās one the best things Iāve done. They got to see a good chunk of the country and appreciate what we have in Canada.

Touring University of Guelph this afternoon with kid. Guelph perpetually has problems with not having enough student housing yet they have loads of surface parking. Like build housing on the parking lot land and then students donāt need to drive and park

And let me tell you these chipmunks picked the right back yard and old lady to target. She feeds them the good nuts. Once a week she goes out to bulk barn and buys a huge bag of raw hazelnuts for them. I ām sure they have pounds and pounds of hazelnuts stashed somewhere
She has told me she knows the chipmunks. There are 3, they each have their own distinctive markings. One has a black nose, one has a tail that is more puffy on the end and the other has a notch out of its ear. The one in the picture is the puffy tail one. I think she needs to name them
Should she be feeding wildlife, probably not. But it keeps them away from her garden and keeps the chipmunks from digging holes into their house, which has been a problem in the past. Sheās almost 80, it makes her happy, so the chipmunks and bunnies get fed
So my Mom feeds all the animals that come in to her backyard. She does it so that they donāt eat her vegetable garden. Seems to be working as her garden hasnāt had any issues this year but now she has about a bazillion bunnies and chipmunks as pets.
My parents have lived in this house for almost 40 yrs and they said they have never heard of anyone having their house or garages broken into on their block or the one that this house is on.
Iām sitting approximately 30 m from this person backyard and everytime I move, the stupid thing goes off and gives me a verbal warning not to trespass. My Dad says when he swims in his own pool the stupid thing goes off constantly. They have asked them to adjust it, they refuse
On other insane home owner security news, Iām sitting in my parents backyard. Their yard is huge. They have 7 other neighbours backyards that touch a portion of theirs. One such neighbour has a motion trigger verbal recorded warning, that essentially tells people they are trespassing ā¦ā¦.
They have gardeners come and water their plants, or they get the concierge to do it, but yeah no one lives there. Maybe if someone actually occupied the place they wouldnāt have such huge security concerns
