If you take a book, and randomly remove words from sentences, then ask the AI to replace them (without knowing the source), it may well get some right from context, but it will also get some wrong. And unless *I* have the source, I'll never know which.

The Fairness Doctrine was already becoming irrelevant when the FCC stopped enforcing in 1987. If it were active now, and enforced exactly as it was enforced during its history, you would see almost no difference in any media.

Yes, they were. Yes, Murdoch promoted politics favorable to Reagan. That is, in fact, utterly and completely legal. There are no laws, now or then, against bias or propaganda in media. No, not the Fairness Doctrine. Where's the beef? Where's the criminal or corrupt act in Murdoch's citizenship?
Lizard (@lizardky.bsky.social) reply parent
Do you have any evidence of Reagan interfering in the process? A memo, an EO, a record of any comment, anything at all? People just keep repeating this as if it was well-proven, but when I ask for links, I'm ignored, blocked, or sent utterly irrelevant drivel showing they were friends.
Lizard (@lizardky.bsky.social) reply parent
Murdoch became a legal permanent resident in 1974. He became a citizen in 1985. Why do you think a rich, white, rich, Christian, rich, male would need any kind of favors or special treatment to become a citizen after 11 years of residency?
