I don't when I think about my life, but I do link "rural" with "Republican" when I see it in media. Maybe that's just me. Anyway, I've read the article now, and it's really good!! (like all your work; I follow you for a reason)
And yikes. I re-read the headline; it's party neutral. But because I've come to think "Republican" when I see the word "rural," and read it as favoring Republicans. Probably why I wasn't inclined to read the story. I'm tired of being told to care about how MAGA feels while Democrats are ignored.

It's not good that nobody readily comes to mind for leader out of the current senators serving. Warren, Murray, and Whitehouse know how things work and have the will to make them work well. Schatz seems to have fallen off the face of the earth. Booker is a performer but what does he do?
