Thanks. I went into this book expecting sthing more like the amazing 'Kitchen' by Banana Yoshimoto but yes, it's a v different take. I get what you say about the "what genre _is_ this?" reading experience. I also found it overlong. But its weirdness has stayed w/ me. Hope her talk sheds some light!

I really like this paper! I use drawing as an elicitation method with artists to talk about their workflow (ora.ox.ac.uk/objects/uuid..., sec 4.8). Your point about how some participants want to add written narrative resonates, but it's good to see how people learn to trust the drawing process. ๐

Fun to hear about the readalong! Iโve just finished my second read through.
I am not that surprised that more women quit academic publishing than men- this chimes with data showing fewer women get their papers published, grants funded if they lead them and that more women get pushed into support roles. We do need to do more to support and mentor female staff. ๐งช
