I had the exact same reaction to this Strib story. Strib is going to ride this one hard to get Frey elected. An NYC friend saw Frey on the nationa;l news and told me, "Your mayor is amazing and inspiring." She was surprised that I didn't think so. Sigh.

BTW. Identities and motives of shooters don't matter. They serve two purposes. 1. To distract from action on gun violence. 2. To spread the shooter's messages, increase notoriety, and encourage copycat shooters. Do not fall into the identity conversation trap. This is about guns, nothing else.

I remember all of this---especially what a sore loser Mike Erlandson was when he lost at that 2006 endorsing convention. He couldn't believe he--the chosen one--had lost to Keith. He stormed out; challenged Keith Ellison in the primary and lost in the August primary too. Strib was so pissed!🤣

We all deserve better than Frey's incompetence, division and fanning the flames of bigotry--as the last eight years have made clear. The best way to get there is to not rank Frey at all. I would be happy to see Omar, Dewayne or Jazz as the next mayor. But I bet I'm preaching to the choir here!😊

I had two old W13 friends over for dinner a few weeks ago. They love Jazz and seemed surprised that I wasn’t ranking Frey. I think too many W13 “moderates” will rank Jazz first and Frey second, thereby electing Frey, but feeling good that they voted for a Black candidate. 🥵

Christianity became about right religious beliefs/rhetoric (accepting Christ as Your Personal Savior and Lord) and looking away from the violence and horror of slavery, or anything else having to do with social justice. It was about upholding the norms of White supremacy and hierarchy...2/
