I’ve been frustrated to see so much of the ongoing story about asylum seekers and the protests against them covered without hearing from those seeking asylum and now being met with hostility and hatred I set out to speak to those directly affected to find out about the impact this is having 👇

Public support was clear. Overseas experience demonstrated it could be done. Evidence was clear too. But in UK we legislate late when public support is there.
Hmm. I worked on this 30+ years ago. Led many aspects of the campaign. In the end there was public consent for a ban. The tobacco industry had a well funded campaign against. We followed other countries.
