I feel like they look pretty much exactly like they did originally? For this remake-remake they just seem to use the weird pixar-like artstyle they already used for the DQ5 movie.

So far I don't really feel much when playing Silksong (5h in). It's not bad, but I mostly feel like "yup, this is more Hollow Knight". Not that I expected it to be anything different, but can't say I'm particularly impressed. But who knows, the game is supposedly huge. Maybe it'll surprise later.

A part of me hates the idea that I prefer the big corporation version of Hollow Knight (Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown) over Hollow Knight itself, but I genuinely had more fun with it, lmao.
The people who call this an Uncharted clone apparantly did not see the Hitman-style areas and ways to interact with the game world. The game has both Uncharted shootouts and set-pieces and Hitman stealth/interactivity. Looks pretty amazing aside from the rough performance.

Everything looked great about this and just what I hoped it would be ... Except performance. That part was pretty rough unfortunately. Hope they can work on that until it's release. But I'm definitely going to get it, it's exactly the kind of game I want.
Despite making fun about Silksong for a while due to it's ridiculous fan coping over the years, I'm definitely looking forward to play it eventually. Might not get it this month, but I'm sure it'll be a good time when I get to it.

Been going back to DC's Rebirth era (mostly Superman and Batman stuff) and it's all pretty good stuff. Reading through King's Batman run made me realize I'm really into the whole Batman x Catwoman ship, lol. Really like that chemistry.

Hm gotta say, even as a Lost Soul Aside defender, the levels go on for too long. They really should've been trimmed down about 30-40%. Reminds me of Travis Strikes Again in that way.
I might watch that, really curious about how stealth-heavy the game is and if it's more of a linear thing, or has some Hitman-style sandboxes going on.

I'll withhold judgement for now. I got the game for a very low price, so I just took the plunge out of curiousity. So far I think it's not too bad. But yeah ... Having overly high expectations for a project like this is just naive.

Though I think silencers aren't suuuuuper common on higher difficulties, at least. I found myself running out on occasion.
I often imagined a version of MGS3 where hunger and thirst is actually really meaningful and ressources are scarce. And something like The End takes place on a huge plane instead of four separate areas.
Oh yeah, I'm also a huge fan of that game, but a lot of mechanics are just fun details that are rarely useful. Which is why I'm disappointed that they didn't try something entirely else and make the game bigger and dive deeper into the survival systems.
Not sure I'll care about the RPG stuff like crafting and the big ass skill tree, but I guess we'll see. Story seems generic, but I'm not zoning out on the dialogue so far, so that's a good sign.
Very early impressions (about 1,5h in) but Lost Soul Aside is pretty fun so far. Light and heavy attacks, no cooldown bullshit, but bars that you fill by actually attacking, launchers, charge attacks, dodges and perfect dodges, optional high-risk parries ... Decent stuff.

Bothers me to an unnecessary degree how people are making content about "the cool shit you can do in MGS Delta" and it's all just stuff you could always do in the original game 😭

Hm, under that particular lense I see where you're coming from. But that's really viewing those remakes as straight-up replacement for newcomers and honestly, if a new fan plays one of these remakes to check out why the original game was a big deal, then that's their own fault, lol.
And I don't know "what if 3 plays like 4 and 5" to me isn't a game concept, that's a mod concept. Especially when they don't even bother to change the level design.
I view the REmakes as fun alternatives I can always go back to. RE4 is worse than the original, but it plays differently enough that I value it as it's separate thing and I can respect it as something that doesn't try to just "improve".
As much as I don't care for the Silent Hill 2 remake, at least it's a new experience, a new take. Not a skinwalker trying to walk in the shoes of a game that didn't need an upgrade.
I don't think that's what Capcom is doing. They are giving us new interpretations of their old work, just ... new games. Delta imho has no value at all. It's a full price experience that adds nothing of value. Minor changes and UE5 graphics. Still not sure who the target audience is.

I guess I could also name Hitman: World of Assassination, but that game is a compilation of three games, so it feels a bit unfair to count it as one entity.
It's interesting to think about, though. Counting 2020 this is the sixth year of this decade, so one can start thinking about what's the best. I think thus far I'd put FF7 Rebirth, Chained Echoes, Baldur's Gate 3, Tears of the Kingdom, TLOU Part II and Doom Eternal above it. Still top 10 at least.
Took a short look on Twitter and first thing I saw was a post about Expedition 33 being the best game in the last 5 years and a guy with "cryptopunknfts" in his biography was like "Uhh, but Elden Ring? Literally best game of all time?" and was instantly reminded why I left that place.

Like I get Trails in particular is a huge time commitment. An adult with a full time job will probably either take years or play nothing else for a long while to catch up, but at the same time the series is going nowhere. Like the original post said, there's no deadline to hit, lol.
I'm thinking a lot about media consumption and how a lot of it isn't about actually enjoying a great series, but just about crossing it off a list to be able to join the club. It's one thing to play these games with a degree of impatience, but actively skipping titles to speedrun through? Rough.
