Reform's polling isn't moving either. They've topped out at 30% - only 9 points ahead at this stage under the current circumstances doesn't seem that much given the hype they are getting. Any proper scrutiny should see at least 10% lopped off that.

What Happened to Labour's 2024 Voters? Using the recent wave of the @britishelectionstudy.com I look at people who voted Labour in 2024: - How many are still with the party? - How many have left? - Why might that be? TLDR: they've left because of economic issues/concerns, probably.

How much of their post conference polling dip was down to announcing Nadine Dorries as a marquee signing? I was under the impression Reform voters despise Johnson for botching brexit and massively increasing immigration. Becoming a repository for failed Tories is not what Reform voters want, is it?
Martin Johnson (@martinpjohnsonbass.bsky.social) reply parent
It's not meant to end. The right's grievance machine needs constant fuel or it turns on itself. Immigration is low hanging fruit.

If it's too difficult politically for Starmer to do it himself why doesn't he let the 'powerful' pro-EU back bench group off the leash as a stalking horse? Let them make the case. And why are the Lib Dems not ruthlessly exploiting this more? Is there reluctance in the media to platform a challenge?
Martin Johnson (@martinpjohnsonbass.bsky.social) reply parent
This has shot to no. 1 in my favourite Raphael Behr articles. It's really past time for the gloves to come off about brexit and Farage to have his nose rubbed in his mess. Labour needs to do far more as do the Lib Dems but the media are also seemingly reluctant to ask him difficult questions.

Hear me out, this could be conspiracy theory territory but could the move to boats be a deliberate ploy to make the crisis more 'visible'? We know Putin has form in weaponising migrant crises and has links to people smuggling gangs. Could he have seen brexit as an opportunity to destabilise the UK?
