I really like that I can post year old @liberalcurrents.com articles on Bluesky and be confident that within an hour they'll get more engagement than hot of the presses articles posted by real journalists on in the Bad Place

The real answer is that you *never* open with what you're going to defund. You talk about what you'll fund instead, and you slip the defunding into the bill to do it. Think about ICE and Medicaid - Trump didn't see 'we're defunding Medicaid' he said 'we're funding ICE'!

The one thing here that really hurt us was the loosening up of outdoor gatherings around the George Floyd protests. The thing is our understanding of outdoor safety was improving by that point, but coming so soon after the closure of playgrounds etc gave even normal people some whiplash
