I was referring to the CDC leadership that resigned in protest, as was indicated in the post to which I responded. CDC is the house. Not to say there are not many other fires throughout the country. Hopefully, we can offer refuge and assistance to those in the fire zones until they are extinguished.
The immigration news of today will pale in comparison to the amount of immigration that will occur as crops start to fail worldwide. Much of the current immigration problem is driven by climate change: poor growing conditions, weather catastrophes in Central and South America.

Yes, recognizing bias is good. But changing behavior is difficult. I tell my daughter all the time we are all racist to some degree, it's just that we often don't recognize our subconscious bias. I know I'm flawed that way. I'm a work in progress.
I feel everything you say. And recognize it in myself so very much. I will spout statistics about "per capita" crime being lower in cities yet I will plan travel routes to avoid driving through certain areas of Detroit. My bias is so deeply ingrained.

Roads, railways, ports, airports, etc that businesses use to operate were paid for by taxes. Fire and police that keep the communities safe for those businesses to operate were paid for by taxes. Water supply & sewer systems were paid for by taxes. Businesses couldn't operate without municipalities.
