The dominant colour here, green, apparently helps people born in the Year of The Pig in choosing opportunities and having access to resources. Pink brings them luck and fulfilment, while blue is the colour of hope and empathy in love.

I do agree that the director shouldn't be embarrassed of the material being comic books, like with Todd Phillips and Joker, but you also have make sure you differentiate between "lovers of the material" and fanboys.
Is that a "no-brainer" with other things? If you only have lovers of the material, you wouldn't get stuff like Kubrik's Shining, or Verhoeven's Starship Troopers.
By contrast, Hulk is one of my favourite comic book movies of all time. It was much less ashamed of being a comic book movie than, say Fant4stic or BvS.

I agree, and that's why it's wrong to state that someone is doing that when they are not.
I don't know that it sucks, but it definitely benefited from being cancelled super early, before the writing style could get too repetitive or before Spike (the actual vampire character from Buffy) could be added to the cast.
