Well done Andy Cook. Delighted and thrilled for the lad. Just brilliant. His two goals overcome a really resilient Grimsby, who looked like they would take the game to penalties.

Dear old Roger Milford didn't have a hair out of place when he failed to expel Gazza in the 1991 cup final. If only he'd had VAR, it would have saved him, Paul and England some inconvenience. It did save Lazio about ยฃ2m on his fee.

Thank you for posting on here. Our front three were great, but just to think our midfield was Metcalfe and Leigh last night. We might talk of the second string of Stoke, but there we didn't have Sarcevic, Pointon, Power, or Humphrys. Even so, we were too good. We even scored a goal from a set play.

Indeed and going in at 7 too. England chose Neil Mallender for the Pakistan match at Leeds in 1992 & he played only once more, in the 5th test at the Oval that summer. Mallender's selection was possibly the last time such a 'Headingley' pick worked. He got a 5 for, briefly outshining Waqar & Wasim.

Binney's match. England would also lose to the Kiwis that summer. A few months later, England had recovered and was beating the Australians away. Losing Gooch, but there were several notable additions to this team: Small, Defreitas, Broad Senior and Botham & Gower back in favour/form. So hope yet

My grab below shows when the sub was made, after an hour when it was still 1-1. However unlucky Graham Taylor was with England, this was a peculiar decision. After two 0-0s, we had to score another in a tight group. Had Lineker scored it, he would have been England's highest scorer with Sir Bobby.
