Honestly, I’m not sure that would help as much as many think. He started off with a considerable minority who would never give him the time of day. And has managed to do more damage in his first year in office.
Yes. Labour need to show us what we voted for. Not keep telling us what we need to vote against or trying to steal a march on Reform. fixing the problems that are making people wrongly blame immigrants would be a good start. And that means breaking promises and raising taxes.
Not saying it’s right. Just that it’s not an example of extra-judicial or extra-legal detention. He was detained because he didn’t have a documented right to remain. He’s been bailed by a court pending his case review. This is due process in action. Not authoritarianism.
I can see myself voting Green if Labour don’t sort their shit out. But I’ll make that decision in consideration with a strong eye on keeping Reform out over anything else.

There’s no boot on the neck of our civil rights in this country. Democracy is messy - and Cooper’s made some bad decisions. But our judiciary has show that the Executive’s powers are still limited. We still have separation of powers. We still have civil rights.
It’s clear that many politicians these days have a high school understanding of electoral democracy, and pretty much zero understanding of how authoritarianism takes over in liberal democracies: because their opponents are morons who make repeated unforced errors
Have been saying since election, Labours commitment not to raise taxes is idiocy. We need higher taxes ASAP. Similarly, Polanski’s assertion he’ll not work with Starmer is idiotic. He’s set himself up to either be irrelevant or be forced to break his promise to keep Reform at bay.
More complex than that. Labour are now stuck between two diametrically opposed populist parties which will take different kinds of votes away from them - cannot combat both simultaneously Also, this isn’t a two party system - so small swings of votes for Green will help Reform in many cases
I expect a lot of Labour voters feel the same way. Green Party policies appeal, not just to left. Centre-left too. Reform are very likely going to end up the second largest party at the next election anyway. A radical left Green Party makes this more likely IMO
The silver lining is that now Labour have to address this - instead of focusing solely on combatting right wing populism. I’m in absolutely zero doubt about which is the greater evil: Farage’s little England fascism vs Starmer’s pragmatism.
Let’s say they take 20 seats at next election. Reform/Lib Dem/Tories/SNP take a further 80 off Labour. That drops Labour to 311. 14 short of a majority. Either LD or Greens will be Kingmaker in that scenario.

They have a stated aim of 30 seats at the next GE. They seem to have a lot of animosity towards Starmer, yet an ambivalence towards Reform: admiring their media game, not their policies, and wanting to copy that.

I expect the new Green Party will be focusing primarily on TikTok, YouTube and other social media platforms, aiming at younger voters and Labour left. But looks like a left wing party devoid of any actual working class people - not sure it’s going to do anything but open more doors to Reform.

Have a feeling that Patterson might surprise us all if he can stay fit. If Moyes wanted rid of him, he’d have been gone earlier in window. The late move to Sevilla clearly dependent on a better option coming in. But it’s JOB’s position for now.
We were never strongly linked with any RB after Tete. So maybe Moyes feels we’ve got enough in that position - or that other priorities needed to be addressed with funds. Patterson needs to stay fit. I like JOB, but I’m not convinced by him at RB.
