You saying that completely ignores the two Democrat members who refused to vote with Democrats, unless they got kickbacks for themselves. Otherwise they wouldn't vote to pass anything... so nothing got done. I can't remember their names, maybe Sinema and Manchin?
mindstorm8191 (@mindstorm8191.bsky.social) reply parent
Yup. Blame any minority group possible for the world's problems, so they don't have to accept blame for their part in it

That's okay, their preachers tell him what's in the bible every Sunday - AND how they should interpret it

But viruses don't work like that. When you vaccinate an entire population, the virus has no means to spread, reproduce or evolve. If there is still thousands of people that aren't vaccinated, the virus will evolve to overcome the vaccine and continue spreading. It's why schools mandate vaccines

On that note, have you heard of the dangers of dihydrogen monoxide?? It's everywhere!!!

Same here. I doubt Newsom would make it very far in the primaries considering his policies, despite all the good he's done against Trump. Maybe he'll be smart enough to not even run
mindstorm8191 (@mindstorm8191.bsky.social) reply parent
We'll be lucky if we even have midterms, if Trump has his way. Trump can't afford the House & Senate to switch to Dems, because he knows the Dems would impeach & remove him
mindstorm8191 (@mindstorm8191.bsky.social) reply parent
Me, I'd much rather see a progressive get the nomination. This country has been slipping to the right for decades, we need to do something about it

Nice. I'm making a game I hope will eventually be multiplayer (along the same veins as Factorio), but I really have no idea how I'll do it. It's one of those things I'll have to tackle when I reach it.

While simultaneously not even letting us speak to them. They are so protected from us that they don't even know - or care - what their policies do to us.

Trump is only one piece of the puzzle. There is still so much work we need to do. But we are moving in the right direction. We just have to keep our momentum going.
mindstorm8191 (@mindstorm8191.bsky.social) reply parent
Yeah; as someone else said, he has no charisma. He won't be able to hold the MAGA cult together. If we're lucky, the entire GOP party will turn on each other; they're all in it only for themselves anyway

With as much work as Trump has put into blocking the release of the Epstein files... how could he not be a pedophile? Be real here: you KNOW he's on the list. He doesn't get the benefit of the doubt anymore
mindstorm8191 (@mindstorm8191.bsky.social) reply parent
Sorry, but I'm still not convinced that Trump won legitimately. All the gerrymandering, voter disenfranchisement, statistical anomalies in voting data, even bomb threats at the polls. We didn't want him in, he forced his way in. We're gonna have to fight like hell to keep the 2026 elections valid
mindstorm8191 (@mindstorm8191.bsky.social) reply parent
I imagine that Trump can pay $2 a gallon for gas - but only because it's from the Federal Reserve. The rest of us have to live in reality.
mindstorm8191 (@mindstorm8191.bsky.social) reply parent
This isn't really up to Congress though, is it? We need to pressure companies to not pay the tariffs - because they're illegal anyway - and demand the money back on tariffs they've already paid. I'm sure they don't want to pay the tariffs either
mindstorm8191 (@mindstorm8191.bsky.social) reply parent
those illegal tariffs, and demand the money back of the tariffs they've already paid? Then we can try to get our economy back to normal - WITHOUT Trump's support in doing so.
mindstorm8191 (@mindstorm8191.bsky.social)
The news right now is that most of Trump's tariffs have been declared illegal by an appeals court, and should be stopped. Obviously, Trump isn't going to listen, and will still try to push the tariffs on us. But... is it really up to us anyway? Can we, instead, pressure companies to refuse to pay ->
mindstorm8191 (@mindstorm8191.bsky.social) reply parent
I'd be more than willing to partake in such activities. But I would be limited to Kentucky & areas surrounding me, and this is a fly-over state. But I think this would be the most effective way to get their attention. They live in such a bubble, they have no idea what their policies are doing to us
mindstorm8191 (@mindstorm8191.bsky.social) reply parent
Wait... why aren't we already doing this to all the Republican politicians who are working against us? Especially Trump

It is easier to hate than to love. It is easier to destroy than to build. But we miss so much by choosing the easy option.
mindstorm8191 (@mindstorm8191.bsky.social) reply parent
So now we have most of the country not knowing what goes on in government, and have no idea how to find out. They don't want to be bothered with our opinions on what they do. But that's an interesting topic; what power do we have to influence our politicians, other than our vote?
mindstorm8191 (@mindstorm8191.bsky.social) reply parent
I agree with you, but it doesn't serve their interests to tell us what they're doing. As public as our government is, they are able to do more to benefit themselves when we don't know what they're doing. News doesn't cover it because it doesn't generate views unless it's already a hot topic. ->
mindstorm8191 (@mindstorm8191.bsky.social) reply parent
I've been a programmer for a very long time. There has always been web sites and services designed to make building your site easier. They're fine IF you are ONLY doing what they're designed for. But if you want to do anything more, it's a hinderance; you're better off building it all from scratch
mindstorm8191 (@mindstorm8191.bsky.social) reply parent
Is this going to cost us taxpayers another $60M? Why are we even paying taxes, if this is what our money goes to??

I'm pretty sure this meme has been around long before AI (at least the LLM version of AI)
mindstorm8191 (@mindstorm8191.bsky.social) reply parent
Someone asked ChatGPT to make an endzone football play... it got it completely wrong. It doesn't know what a football play is! It looks at 100 pictures labeled as 'football play', and tries to generate a similar image. That's the extent of its intelligence
mindstorm8191 (@mindstorm8191.bsky.social) reply parent
So I see no benefit in using it.
mindstorm8191 (@mindstorm8191.bsky.social) reply parent
But as a programmer, I won't be using AI. There is even a trend (Vibe Coding) where you use AI to write all ur code. It can get u started, but doesn't work very long; AI still doesn't understand what causes code bugs or how to correct them. It can't join large chunks of code to something functional.
mindstorm8191 (@mindstorm8191.bsky.social) reply parent
As someone told me, AI is a tool to let the rich access skill without paying those who have skill. AI can only generate slop that barely passes as content; it still doesn't understand the real objective. I will admit that there is a niche for such things, such as when quality doesn't matter at all.
mindstorm8191 (@mindstorm8191.bsky.social) reply parent
It doesn't really matter what he says. Trump's base will see our objections of his statements as only political, and claim that he's right
mindstorm8191 (@mindstorm8191.bsky.social) reply parent
We the People HAVE to make him leave! He is already doing so much violence to us through his policies. People are dying and he doesn't care. He'll never leave by choice - he is actively working to guarantee the GOP stay in power after midterms. This will never get better on its own
mindstorm8191 (@mindstorm8191.bsky.social) reply parent
I say run as a Democrat... then break your promises to them. They should be there to represent the people, not their own party.
mindstorm8191 (@mindstorm8191.bsky.social) reply parent
Yeah, I think they should... but would it have amounted to anything? He'd brush it off and give us the vaguest of answers; a typical narcissist response
mindstorm8191 (@mindstorm8191.bsky.social) reply parent
But that's never going to happen, though. The GOP has majority control in Congress (both House & Senate), and they want him there. The Supreme Court members were given their job by him, they're not going to turn on him. We have NO legal way to remove Trump, & he's already trying to rig the midterms
mindstorm8191 (@mindstorm8191.bsky.social) reply parent
Never going to happen, not with this regime. What CAN happen is if we all boycott every company that advertises with Fox News. Companies will stop advertising with them, and they'll lose their income. That would trigger BIG changes in Fox News
mindstorm8191 (@mindstorm8191.bsky.social) reply parent
Sounds like all the more reason to do it!
mindstorm8191 (@mindstorm8191.bsky.social) reply parent
Oh, how I wish we could. We can't even get a malicious dictator out of office. The GOP has been grabbing for power for decades, and don't even care what we say. They're the ones who always say 'thoughts and prayers' after tragedies like this
mindstorm8191 (@mindstorm8191.bsky.social) reply parent
People have GOT to understand that we cannot simply vote our way out of this. Trump is not going to give up his power, and he'll make it legal for him to do so, no matter how many of us vote to remove him. He isn't playing by the rules; we will lose everything if we limit ourselves to following them
mindstorm8191 (@mindstorm8191.bsky.social) reply parent

I think the inflationary spiral is going to nuke our economy long before the 2026 elections. Prices are going up, and people won't have the money to buy. Then businesses will suddenly be struggling to stay afloat & start layoffs. Trump has NO IDEA what he's doing with the economy. It'll be bad

But are the MAGA cultists listening to anything the Dem politicians have to say? No; they have been convinced that the Dems want to destroy our country in a myriad of ways; anything the Dems say will be called lies. They're not going to listen. They might as well be talking to a wall. ->
mindstorm8191 (@mindstorm8191.bsky.social) reply parent
letters aren't enough IMO either. The truth is, we have no legal way to remove Trump. Congress won't impeach him, and SCOTUS won't remove him either. And Trump is busy trying to guarantee that GOP doesn't lose Congress control in the next election. Action on this MUST come down to us, the People.
mindstorm8191 (@mindstorm8191.bsky.social) reply parent
Filing articles of impeachment every day isn't going to do a damn thing. The GOP have control of both House & the Senate; don't they need 60% Senate vote to remove him? Any attempt is guaranteed to be voted out. What is raging going to do? Ask them to do something more effective. Yeah, stern ->

The GOP's whole strategy has been to block everything the Dems try to do (and take credit for anything that can't be blocked). They have been doing this the last 40 years; have you noticed it? I can imagine that they would give up if they deal with walls in everything they try to do, but I don't ->

I think the last time we had a legitimate third party was Ross Perot. He was criticized about something late in the campaign, and gave up mere weeks before elections. Yeah, it was a mess. But I think that was 25 years ago, before I was old enough to vote.

We need to stop thinking about this as Democrats verses Republicans. This is poor verses the rich. We pay taxes, the rich get ALL the benefits; we struggle & die. There are a LOT of Republican voters who are hurting under Trump's regime. They can be persuaded to join us, if we can genuinely ->

When Harris took over for Biden in the campaign, I was skeptical of electing her; I won't buy hype. But after she had her website up, it was easy to see her platform and objectives. People NEED to do proper research on candidates. How do you expect to make an informed decision if you don't?
mindstorm8191 (@mindstorm8191.bsky.social) reply parent
Yeah; the Dems win their elections with funds from the rich, just as much as the GOP. And the rich expect kickbacks for helping, or they won't fund their next election. We need a new party...
mindstorm8191 (@mindstorm8191.bsky.social) reply parent
Minstream media is owned by the rich. Their metric is viewership; so it doesn't matter if they tell us the truth. As long as people still believe it, they can spin the news any way they like. It's all to keep the rich looking innocent; but they'll benefit the most from our nation's collapse
mindstorm8191 (@mindstorm8191.bsky.social) reply parent
It's the oligarchs that won't support community. How will they force us to buy their products when we can band together & help each other w/o them? And how can you call it living in a community when you don't even know your neighbors? That's not being in a community at all. That's being an outsider.

mindstorm8191 (@mindstorm8191.bsky.social) reply parent
We don't have to throw away Democracy in order to have a more community-based society. Have you ever met your neighbors? I have; I set up a town hall meeting a few months back for my street. Out of 14 homes, I had 6 neighbors come by. They were all friendly. We do need SO much more of a community ->

I'm not against a revolution, actually. This nation needs some very radical changes, and those in power will not allow that. What we need is a party that represents the working class, instead of the rich. Because the rich really control both our parties.
mindstorm8191 (@mindstorm8191.bsky.social) reply parent
Okay, so you want to do a revolution to do away with our current government. Give up our democracy. So what are we going to replace it with? Because if we don't have any government, another country will invade us right away. Or everyone will do as they please - meaning oligarchs will enslave us all
mindstorm8191 (@mindstorm8191.bsky.social) reply parent
The GOP is not afraid of us. Our opinions don't matter to them. We need to make them afraid again. Not just of you, just of your family, but all of us people. We need to take back our government

Here's the problem, though: Those MAGA cultists are still going to vote. The GOP is even counting on you not voting, because with low turnout, they win. We don't get to choose the best candidate that we can imagine. We can only choose the options available to us. If you don't vote, politicians ->
