Tim Lyons (@mitsnoyl.bsky.social) reply parent
Probably. Just like the rest of us. The fact that that idiot Clarkson might leave the country is good news - imo. I don’t think it’ll save Starmer’s skin though.
Tim Lyons (@mitsnoyl.bsky.social) reply parent
Yes. But they can’t do it if they are competing with the Greens and ‘Your Party’ for the same votes. A form of electoral pact will be needed but that won’t happen. What will happen, I predict at the moment, is that Reform will pick up a lot of seats with a very small percentage of the vote.
Tim Lyons (@mitsnoyl.bsky.social) reply parent
What you say in opposition is designed to get you elected at the next GE. What you actually do in Government having done so may have no similarity at all it seems. That’s how British politics has worked for decades if not centuries and it’s why we hate them all so much.

Probably a good thing. For too long some small businesses have evaded VAT by setting up connected businesses to stay under the registration threshold. This will now be much more difficult and will create a more level playing field.

Naivety in the extreme to imagine there’d be no fallout from this but probably to be expected. Maybe it’s just a brazen attitude to the public as taxation is ‘for little people.’ Lords and MPs are behaving as if they were in a moral vacuum and it’s time to clean up our Parliament.

We need a seismic shift in UK politics and we’ll only get it if the progressive parties form an electoral pact. The LibDems, Greens and ‘Your Party’ need to divide the constituencies between them and not stand against each other. In that way their number of MPs and influence will increase.
