I've said elsewhere that the casting and acting is tremendously good; that's a feature of Hawley that did translate over perfectly well. Sydney Chandler in particular is mesmerizing. The editing and pacing, though, it's just not great -- no sequences with the "action beats" that I've expected.
Also, Hawley is not creating and using the opportunities for irony and rhythmic pacing that he found regularly in Legion and (especially) Fargo. I feel like the writing team just didn't have its shit together and/or there was meddling from outside the creative team.
I haven't been able to connect the two main plot arcs, the escaped alien "zoo" and the Lost Boys, in a proper storytelling way yet. It doesn't seem that either is essential to the other, which is a major storytelling flaw. So far. Nevertheless I do like and enjoy it.
