Okay we have watched it four times now. My 8yo is dominating the Fortnite voice chat telling all his friends about it and playing the songs over his mic 😄 and he screamed and glomped me (does anyone still use that word) when I told him there's a kpop con happening in St Paul soon. The hype is real!

My heart breaks for you and those you know. You are right, it's important we recognize both the need to preserve our mental health and also the privilege we have in being able to adjust the dial of exposure. I think honoring both is how we do the most good.
There's a point at which staying informed and bearing witness to the horrors begins to consume me, when rather than moving me to action I am unable to function. If I move on without reading it is not because I desire ignorance but that I'm at my limit and need to preserve enough capacity to continue
I'm at a nonprofit that works with a lot of public employees and the amount of wordsmithing and tiptoeing around no-no words we have to do is tiring, but it's been amplified now that everyone is afraid of further funding cuts. It is maddening

The first time my friend ever drove a group of us downtown (she'd just gotten her license) she went on the tracks there and when we all started screaming about it, instead of getting to the next corner to turn off of the tracks, she stopped and went in reverse to the previous corner 🤦

My annual hangout at Lake Harriet is near! I'll set up on the side of the stage farthest from the concession and parking area. I will have blankets, snacks, NA bevvies and small crafts to share. There are concessions, benches and a big play area nearby, or bring a chair. All welcome, kid friendly!

Distracted drivers have always concerned me, but what I'm seeing more often lately is worse: drivers not even caring enough to look at their surroundings, blaming pedestrians for the driver's disregard of road rules and right-of-way, and being angry at having to coexist with anyone not in a vehicle
In a two mile round trip today, I witnessed: - a driver turning while a youth running team was crossing, who stopped diagonally in the middle of the crosswalk to split up the group while yelling at them - a driver start to turn right as a pedestrian was in front, arm's length from the vehicle
