Yeah it took me a second to understand the NIMBY logic because there doesn't seem to be any change in the number of spots on the lot, but I think they only see 19 new neighbors on this block as 40 new cars parking in "their" street parking spaces
haha right my grandpa lived close by in North Park when he was in the Navy and I'm sure he would have laughed if he knew the crappy shoebox bungalow apartments he rented as a 20 year old were being treated like precious historic specimens lol
sorry not to be aggro but there's really no middle ground with these nimbys

University Heights neighbors have strongly opposed adding bathrooms to their public park and have even protested against proposed bathrooms, so no, I will not negotiate in good faith with these people. They would rather have abandoned houses and people forced to pee in bushes just to keep people out
ho boy, you don't want to know how bad the comments are getting on this IG post. Apparently a neighbor is nothing but a parking spot taken away. I drive, therefore I am.

If you just need to go to fashion valley transit center, yeah. It was only like 10 min from downtown. But you have to catch it by City College so if you're not in East Village it might be less convenient than taking the trolley
I haven't been here in forever because it's so hard to get down here by bike, but WOW this place is so fancy and so crowded. Is there really this much demand for luxury Italian designer bags?
Monica de la Cruz (@monicadlc.bsky.social)
Route 20 is an awesome service. Just one stop downtown then gets on the freeway to take you directly to the Fashion Valley Mall. Maybe faster than a car because it gets to cut through the 163 entrance traffic with a bus only lane
It's scary! Super haunted with the leftover old lamps and shit in the window. These people will pretend to care about anything if it means stopping housing, even an uninhabitable, half eaten by bugs bungalow sitting on cinder blocks

Anytime you try to brand an ideology, you end up with grifters and nazis trying to piggyback on it. I hate the “abundance” branding already. It’s a grab bag of good and bad ideas with no coherent philosophy behind it, which makes it easier for conmen to jump in.

Last time I looked at transit ridership per service hours but another vital metric is cost per trip which I've charted starting with light rail, where San Diego has by far the most cost-effective system. Good to see Phoenix & MSP do well on opex too, & VTA really does love lighting money on fire
Andrew Bowen (he/him) (@acbowen.bsky.social) reposted
San Diego’s Blue Line trolley has ridership numbers that most light rail systems can only dream of. But the Clairemont Drive Station attracts the fewest passengers by far. Why? Because freeway, and because zoning. My latest: www.kpbs.org/news/quality...

I'm going to submit one and hopefully they get ticketed eventually. But I'm wondering if that will actually change behavior. It seems like one ticket is not enough for daily offenses and they might just assume it's still worth it for almost free parking

If you're just looking at ridership data, San Diego's public transit is doing remarkably well. But the agency — like its peers across the country — is facing a looming deficit. Absent new revenue, MTS will have to cut services by 25% in just a few years. My latest:

Also something to consider: the air quality through your short commute is not ideal for getting your daily activity. I live in Golden Hill so the last few blocks home are always a sweaty, panting challenge on a bike but I can feel how exerting myself that close to a freeway is not good for me
You're still moving and I usually keep the pedal assist on 1-2 out of 5 and I just use the throttle to quickly get back up to speed when the light turns green. There are some lightweight "stealth" ebikes that look and feel like a normal bike that might enable more physical activity
