Isn't that what the government is doing now with France? They've set up a returns agreement plus they've been working to disrupt the gangs & prevent the supply of boats etc. It needs to be a multiple approach not just providing legal routes & processing claims.
I've started to switch off the news as I find some channels, particularly BBC are not balanced. Too many are opinion pieces instead of providing facts. Lack of scrutiny of Farage who seems to be frequently platform.
How can the government control the conversation around immigration when the fourth estate (the media) aren't doing their job of informing the public about the facts & truth? The govt has an uphill task if the RW media (who owns most of our media) is constantly platforming liars like Farage!

I'm sorry if you've been struggling with this. I saw a lot of uninformed info in our media that wasn't helpful to people & frankly probably increased anxiety. I'm pleased the govt has listened to MPs & changed. It's better than just ignoring feedback & ploughing on. That's how a govt should work.

Tired of the weekly 'let's totally trash Labour' programmes. Can't watch any of them as there's never any balance or fairness in the reporting. I've yet to hear any positive things about other things they've done. It's deliberate. If I can find the good stuff, so can these journalists.
I've noticed some changes but not just one presenter. Tbh I'm getting fed up of the increased (it seems that way to me anyway) vitriolic & melodramatic reporting & content of programmes on all media channels. It seems to be focused on just winding people up & creating drama. It's turning people off.

Has the Labour government enabled this or was it the Tory govt(s)? A lot of universities are going through redundancies now because they also forgot that they are educational establishments and not businesses. They've also treated staff badly eg pension strikes 2022/23

It was really disturbing to listen to Hegseth,Trump & Rubio. Itās made me realise what a dangerous position the world is in with these men in charge of a large military & nuclear apparatus. The other NATO members are sucking up to Trump to buy their countries more time to re-arm.
