He has to make an argument that they are "cleaning the place up," and since there's no real crime to stop, Trump decided to take that very literally. Plus, they were probably complaining that they're bored. Be careful what you ask for, I suppose.

I am of the same mind. If they were to ban them tomorrow, the miliary, the police and Trump's biggest nuts would be the only ones who have them. To be completely honest, if this continues on the trajectory it's on, I'm not so sure this won't be a warzone. And then we'll need those weapons.
Some private companies are assisting other companies with tariff bills. Likely, the real reason is not magnanimity so much as dulling the impression that the Trump policies are a disaster. If a private company has to keep other companies afloat because of tariffs, the government has failed.

The sad fact is that a lot on our side believe business as usual is going through a temporary setback that is just going to fade out when Trump does, who think that their brilliant wit can stop bullets, and that throwing pieces of paper at these guys, while not ineffective, is still powerful.
That's not good news. If violence must happen, IF, it has to be unified, well-trained, and well led, like any army, not like random people going off and engaging in actions that reflect upon us all ("us" is the left, not just the LGTBT+ peeps). And we have to have a command leadership that says go.

My serious answer is that what I would do, I can't do without the cooperation of everyone else, or most others. I don't agree with the present approach. My familiarization with predatory types being what it is, I know that they don't evolve because you talk to, at, or about them. They don't learn.
